AUFamily is very difficult to read.

Its perfectly easy to read. However there is a lot of bullshite sunshine pumping that will get you eventually banned if you dont toe the company line. Ask my man Jang. They banned him over some absolute bullshite. I almost got banned (was told by multiple mods to find a different site) when I said in Jangs signing day thread that if Patrick Nix loved his son he wouldnt let him go anywhere near a Gus Malzahn coached Auburn team. They almost banned me for that. Ivr posted maybe 50 times since then. Abd 95% of that has been in the last week

Clark is so amazing that UAB appears to be his celing.

How does this seem to be his ceiling?
UAB was a bottom 10 job before he got there....he's had no losing season, 3 straight conf champ. games and won 2 of them....

HOW is the his ceiling??

You serious clark?

How many P5 positions have you seen his name seriously linked? How many P5 jobs has he interviewed for? How many G5 teams not named UAB have given him interviews?

Seems you need a lesson on what a celing means... It means he has reached the top of his career... It has less than NOTHING to do with what you said.

If Clark was SO amazinghe would have gotten interviews at other P5 school openings. Fact is he hasnt. Also another fact is he has never coached outside of Alabama.

Thanks for showing me not to pay attention to anything else you may say

But that is the issue. From what we actually know, Greene has ran this search professionally and with no drama.

Right... from the outside looking, it appears like a normal search (it’s just been a week)... but people feel that void with the same tired ‘information’ they’ve always expected from AU... taking half-truths to sell subscriptions or gain an audience.

I know most of the rumors being thrown out seem pretty far fetched but don't forget the reason we had to pay Tuberville's entire contract was because Jimmy Rane called Houston Nutt to see if he would be interested in replacing Tubs. He was involved in Jetgate so he should have known the clause that Auburn or any representative of Auburn contacting another coach while CTT was still employed put Auburn on the hook for his entire contract. They were both Sexton clients so thinking it wouldn't get out was beyond stupid. Also worth repeating that it was Houston freaking Nutt that he had targeted for a replacement. His track record clearly shows he shouldn't be involved in a coaching search.

Which ironically started over me pushing back against the narrative that you can’t point out Steele’s issues just because Gus’s issues were bigger. Sure I shouldn’t have asked if the Steele lover mod got his title at the career fair, but his shite stunk, too.

Again, I've never seen any corroborating evidence that Rane called Nutt to ask about replacing Tubs in '08, other than rando message board posters repeating it as gospel. If you know of any semi-reputable source for this story, I'd love to see it for myself.

I don't think Rane should be picking and choosing our HCs (even though as a Trustee he could certainly advise and consent), but I simply can't imagine he would contact Nutt (who was in the middle of his first season at Ole Miss, having already created havoc at Arky) knowing that both Nutt & Tubs had Sexton handling their business. It's not just 'beyond stupid', it's borderline psychotic.

It was confirmed that we paid his entire contract even though he resigned. I can't imagine we did that out of the kindness of our hearts. He had something on Auburn and it's the only explanation that was ever offered.

It's been awful quiet today...

I still think we are getting a Napier as our new coach announcement this afternoon.

Fingers crossed.

This Bleacher Report article may not be reputable, but it is more than just message board rumor.

Also, it isn't like there isn't a pattern of this happening at Auburn. Here's a story from 2006 where Bill Oliver says he was approached about being Bowden's replacement in 1996. With the increased attention paid to Lowder after the SACS investigation, it wouldn't be surprising for Rane to step in.

His hire would be incredibly boring and I doubt recruits would like it. Would be concerning but like Big Willy said, Auburn fans will get behind him. They will have to.

I always took that as he was fired, but agreed to say he 'resigned' in order for AU to save some face (not that it made any real difference). He got the $5 mil buyout because we were contractually obligated to pay him off.

Sounds like he wants an interview but hasn't been offered one. But with all that's gone on, who knows what's real past Gus being fired.
