I love that we have Garner, Kodi, TWill, and Caddy on staff from a fan nostalgia perspective.

But being realistic and wanting to win championships, Garner is the only one with any business coaching at AU.

The rest are there because Gus has a shitty coaching tree and people like Rane & Harbert told him to hire them.

Napier, Clark, or Freeze. I know no one likes Freeze's habits at OM but he is the best coach on the board. I just want a proven coach with a winning record at this point. No unproven coordinator or ex-HC with a losing record.

Alabama has analysts on staff that were former P5 coaches.

No shite.

Our analysts are mostly Alabama HS coaches and former players like Kenneth Carter, Jorrell Bostrom, Barrett Trotter, Ben Blackmon, Al Pogue, and Al Gresham.

I guess that is normal though.

Napier is a Saban Coaching Rehab graduate, maybe he could start something similar at Auburn.

I mean Kodi was a piss poor QB that turned WR late in his career and he was actually very bad at that as well.

How the hell did he become a WR caoch?

He could win 10 straight C-USA titles and would still be less qualified for the job than an SEC position coach.

If Clark is serious about the Auburn or another SEC job, he needs to be trying to land a DC job in the conference.

I think Clark is content staying at UAB. The buildings will be named after him there - why go somewhere else where the facilities already have someone else’s name?

Watching that guy he ran out at QB tells me all I need to know about Clark.

When has any head coach willingly taken a coordinator job without being fired first? That's insane.

Bill Clark only lost to Napier by 4 this year after he was forced to play his backup QB (who threw 0TDs and 2 picks.) He played Miami really well until depth started playing a factor. He's in his 3rd straight conference championship with a historically dog shite program (That was shut down after his first year, btw.) He may not be a splash hire, but he's a damn good coach.

Is this a serious question?

Money. Money is the answer to your question, serious or not.

I have no idea what my reservation is about Bill Clark. I may be unreasonable. Can anyone tell me why Bill Clark is a bad choice...?

The offense is worse than Malzahn, and they’re one of the least disciplined teams in the country

I dont know about this season. It looks like he will have a conference title at 6-3. However, up until now his best season was a free pass from the NCAA on scholarships. I feel like he needs another 2-3 seasons to see how his program development looks.

Being a coordinator in the SEC isn't a sign of a quality coach. Gus and Muschamp just proves that and everyone is fighting to keep Steele away from the HCing job. Proving you can build and sustain a team from nothing for multiple years is alot better sign of a good coach.

Would the melt be greater if we had hired Steele the same day we fired Gus or once we hire Steele the Sunday after Christmas after an extended search with "interviews"
