I bet Bruce is gone. Too much smoke
Too much smoke from where? 24/7 said Pearl and the admin have a great relationship now.

I'm sure this administration is well aware the effects of firing Pearl would have on the program. It would be a riot so large it'd affect ticket sales across all revenue streams.
And it would absolutely kill this program for good.
Not just basketball...it would ripple across all sports

If they didn't have anything more on Bruce, I wouldn't be shocked if the Steven Leath own job was on the line for firing
Bruce
I just don't see it unless they have a home run hire who is great at promoting a program like Bruce to win over bball fans....
I don't see AU hiring someone like that.

So shouldn't be a shocker to anyone, but here are some quick facts on assists/field goals made
Since the start of SEC Play
In 13 Wins (Counting CoC game as L since it should have been)
A/FGM - 55.4%
# games >=50% A/FGM - 11
Two Games <50% A/FGM - @MSU, v UGA
In 7 Losses + CoC game
A/FGM - 48%
# games >=50% A/FGM - 4
# games >=55% A/FGM - 0
# games <50% - 4

I wish I could blame something on Bruce but I can't. Literally Person fricked him over from a depth standpoint and this team got mentally destroyed late in the year.
Thats funny that we cant blame Bruce for it but it was bad for Jacobs since it was under his watch.
Amazing what fans will look over when they are happy with a coach/AD or not happy with them.

Check out my other thread where for some reason Bruce seems to think he's some kind of neutral observer when it comes to what his players are doing on the court.
As to the 2017-18 Auburn men's basketball season:
- Bruce *owns* the fact that he set up his team well enough to win the SEC Regular Season Championship.
- Bruce also *owns* the fact that his team ended the season as a dumpster fire and he doesn't get let off the hook for that as some kind of "neutral observer".
Bruce is the head-fricking-coach, so he gets the credit AND the responsibility/blame.

Agree to an extent but a lot of that is the perception that hiring Person was somewhat forced on him by TPTB, and that is entirely on Jacobs.

This entire post had no point. Impressive!

RIP your reading comprehension.

You seem to have never gained an understanding of the word "perspective." You want everyone to throw confetti after every win and get their pitchforks out after every loss.
Sometimes, us cooler heads like to take a step back and look at the big picture.
Sure, I'd like for Bruce to keep tabs on his assistants at all times and for us to not get blown out on a national stage. But, big picture, we had one rogue assistant come under fire in a self-enrichment scheme and WE WON THE SEC TITLE AND HAVE POSSIBLY EVERY PLAYER RETURNING AND THEN SOME.

Pearl definitely deserves some blame for failing to monitor Persons activity
Jacobs deserves blame for allowing a coach with major known financial problems to get be hired
To have a scandal like this occur quite a few major system breakdowns have to occur

I love how some of you argue with what the strawman in your head wrote as opposed to what I actually posted.
So giving a coach credit for his team’s accomplishments and criticism for his team’s collapse seams to be too harsh for some of you, I guess.

I just think other factors were involved. Sure, it's easy to just blame the coach when we started sucking. He could've done a better job, but I'm sitting here trying to figure out what he could've done differently and I'm having a hard time figuring out how this team could've been good with the players that were left and also Brown and Harper forgetting how to shoot.

I blame all you MF's in here for the losses, scandals, and anything else that went wrong this past year in Auburn sports. I blame Bruce, Jay, Gus, errybody but me. I don't blame me.

I accept my part of the blame. Can we move on to spring. Auburn is certainly a fishing school now
