Hell yeah he would leave LSU. Fans would be calling for his head if they had 1 more loss. Some are wanting him fired anyway. He has nothing left to prove or accomplish at LSU and loves Michigan. Not saying its for sure but if the money is right he'd definitely consider.
As far as Jimbo I'd want to get as far from FSU program I could. All the arrests and investigations of late stink of future problems. I'd jump ship

Added this in the OP. Latest per JGT
-Formal offer has been made to Boom (at least $1.2 mil)
-TAMU has made a big $ offer also
-2 NFL teams have extended provisional offers (no specific teams mentioned)
-Boom has not told any team his long term plans
-Gus still willing to wait for now but will make a hire no later than next week
-Former Prattville, USA, Jax St, and UAB coach Bill Clark is gaining momentum as a major candidate if Boom is not the guy.
-Memphis DC Barry Odom remains a candidate

I'm starting to like this Odom guy more and more if we don't get Muschamp.

It's going to be Clark
Texas A&M recruiting sites are all basically giving up on Muschamp. I don't see him going to USCe seeing as it is a dumpster fire even compared to us
NFL is only worrying thing

I would be happy with Clark. He has been a winner at every stop. The only area WM beats him at is recruiting the state of FL.

How did Muschamp do last time he was in the NFL and how did his personality translate? I can see where college kids would love the energy and excitement, but I could see older guys who've been in the league a while getting annoyed with it.

Clark would be a major disappointment. He might be great as a head coach, but he hasn't proven anything as a defensive coach. UAB was awful this year defensively and the four years he spent at USA as DC were awful.

Honest question because I am not very familiar with Clark. What is his college football coaching experience? Has he been a defensive coordinator at the college level before?

Helped start USA, as DC. Head coach at JAX ST. They were really good last year. UAB was going to a bowl, and had their best recruiting class in years. And he was the only HS coach who had any success vs Hoover. He is basically the D version of Gus.
ETA:
He has the unique ability to take what talent he has, and makes them productive. He is probably a better football coach than Boom.

I don't keep up with NFL enough to know who these teams might be.
Since his wife's family does seem to factor in to the equation, I don't see them moving to the west coast or far up north so that eliminates several teams.

quote:Agreed. And I think that may just be short term because Clark has never recruited big time talent on a college level. I think he would adjust pretty fast. One of Clark's strong points I know from his Prattville days is he is a hell of a salesman and that's what recruiting is. Clark was succesful at getting players from surrounding areas and from Louisiana after Katrina to want to come play for him. Now I know high school and college are vastly different but Clark has the skills to be an elite recruiter. Potentially on par if not better than Jeremy Pruitt turned out to be. Plus it would be fun to see Clark and Pruitt go head to head again, this time with recruits. Also, even though it was high school Clark showed he can have a very effective defense paired with a tempo offense. Clark used a form of the HUHN at Prattville for 8 years. His D's were effective against tempo Os like Hoover even in losses.

There's no way you can compare Clark and Muschamp right now.

quote:Yeah and the fact that was the first 4 years USA even had a football team means nothing right? It's hard to turn chicken spit into chicken salad. You gotta have the ingredients and it's extremely hard to get good ingredients when the program is just starting from scratch.
the four years he spent at USA as DC were awful.

Heard that. From what I can gather online, their three is Venables, Narduzzi, and Foster. Also heard Pelini is meeting with South Carolina?

It's still taking a huge chance and we can't afford that right now after 6 years of shitshow defense. Someone with SEC experience is what we need, not a high school coach.

This makes sense on several levels. And if anyone is going to go into a situation as coach in waiting, it would be Pelini at SC over Muschamp. I think Nebraska was stupid to fire him - look at the consistency he brought to the program. Pelini comes in, gets experience recruiting in the SEC and takes over for OBC when he retires in a couple of years.

WM is everyone's first choice. But We would not be "settling" for Clark. He has a huge upside, where we know what WM brings to the table. He would be the best recruitor in the state of AL, and like E said, he would adjust to national recruiting (GA and FL) very fast, IMO. He is a very close 2nd choice as DC.
