I will take the occasional bust in coverage while we're playing man, overall we are pretty good in man. When we go zone is when we get picked apart, it's night and day. Our defense has had a majority of it's success by pretty much playing a base scheme, rushing 4 (sometimes 5) and just letting our DBs play man.

Dinson will be fine, he was literally asleep on the field the previous week. He probably missed most of the practice time last week while in "concussion protocol".

Why are we that bad in coverage then? Is it due to the fact that our guys don’t turn their heads to play the ball?

U serious? If you're in phase and you're able to turn and find the ball, by all means. But if you're chasing and not exactly sure when the ball is arriving you're supposed to read the eyes/hands of the WR and stick your arm in between theirs to attempt the PBU.

... but we aren't bad in coverage?

53.9% completion percentage (3rd in SEC)
5.7 yards/att (2nd in SEC)
109.5 rating (4th in SEC)

12 TDs (4th in SEC)
177 ypg (5th in SEC)

While facing 371 attempts which is 11th in the SEC

Which means...
65 attempts/TD (1st in SEC)

What's your definition of deep balls?

Auburn gives up a...
30+ yard pass play every 24.7 attempts (5th in SEC)
40+ yard pass play every 74.2 attempts (1st in SEC)

That first Bama touchdown was clearly offensive PI. The guy pushed Dinson and caught the ball. He was in position.

No doubt. Blatant PI.

Thanks for compiling this...football is a game best experienced without emotion. There is nothing about our D to this point that would lead anyone to believe we aren't elite on that side of the ball. Can a guy have a bad play or the D have a bad game? Yes. We are great at all 3 levels this year. Covering the WR's these guys have to cover isn't a simple task.

Yep. Dinson tried looking back for the ball, but obviously couldn't locate it, so he did the smart thing and played the man. He was also supposed to have more safety help on that play, but Carlton I believe slipped covering his man, causing Roberts to break off and cover him.

Our secondary has been fantastic this year. Our cornerbacks play incredible man to man coverage and are almost always in a position to make a play on the ball, which is all I ever ask of a CB.

I do agree that they don't seem to turn around and find the ball, which is frustrating when I often feel like they are in a position to make a play on it if they could get their head around. But you won't ever see me complaining about that as long as we are stopping the receiver from making the catch.

I also do think it's fair to say Dinson has been our most questionable cover corner this season, but as other have said, he has made a ton of plays around the line of scrimmage making tackles this year. I like to see a combo of him and Javaris Davis in the game depending on situation.

I think think the most important thing to remember when it comes to Dinson, and to some extent Dean, is that this is essentially their first year getting to play. Even though they are older, for basically being freshmen both of them have been really good.
