Per AL.com and Footballscoop we could hear something as soon as today. Very real possibility he leaves for South Carolina.

Remember earlier this week when everyone was shitting themselves about LT possibly becoming our defensive coordinator? Good times. Good times.

They will add the caveat that it could also be as late as July.

If it's just about a title couldn't we give him that? If he goes to SC he's only co-DC at most. He should be Co-DC here anyway if we want a smooth transition that maintains some elements of our current scheme.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see what would be smart about going to South Carolina for LT. South Carolina is a train wreck of a football program right now, he only has to wait a few more years until he's vested in the state retirement program, and we could probably shell out more money to keep him, which we absolutely should, unless we've derped this up in typical Auburn fashion.

He ain't going nowhere. Would be nice to keep LT. Really sucks to see him go to USC after leading the best D we saw in years.

While I'd like to keep him, judging LT by the bowl game is as nonsensical as judging Tom Allen by his. One data point just isn't enough to draw a conclusion.

not only that, but it was fricking Memphis. I don't care if they beat Ole Miss. Look at their average recruiting rankings for the last 5 years and look at ours. We should dominate them by default.

Yeah, well JJ did awesome against arKansas for 1/2 a game and it was enough to tell that he was a Heisman QB.

Precisely my point. We as fans (and this goes for any fanbase, because they all do it) look at one game and decide that we need to fire so-and-so and we need to start this true freshman based on one play. JJ Heisman hype was based on not a lot of hard evidence, and the media (plus many fans) just ran with it.

I thought Ellis Johnson and T-Rob were already co-DC's there?

They're going to have co-co-DC's?

Has the fact that LT and Steele's apparent tight relationship been overlooked? Has anyone thought LT might be responsible for putting Steele on Malzahn's radar?

Well, that's the thing. AU has not dominated a game defensively against anyone the past 4-5 years or so, and that includes D-2, regardless of recruiting rankings. That was one hell of an anomaly if you ask me.

Exactly. Even in FCS games, we're giving up 30+ points sometimes and it's frustrating. That was the best defense I've seen since 2008 against a QB and an offense that had been explosive all year. And when was the last time we held any team to 200 yards of offense? Hopefully the progress carries over to next season.
