You seem to be showing more support to them than the current Auburn’s coaches. I have no earthly idea why. Gus was clearly nothing special.

I mean you sound the alarms with our coaches every time a transfer leaves here. Our coach is 0-0 at Auburn.

Is this where I post Gus and TWill landed a 4* DB today?
Neat. Take a look at the rest of their class LOL.
Also, Sonny Dykes and SMU have a better class. Literally nothing impressive from Gus yet either, who most certainly isn't "one of the best recruiting coaches in the country" (what an absurd statement; if he was one of the best recruiting coaches in the country he wouldn't have been fired and he he most certainly wouldn't be at UCF LOL).

. mAUbe a month?

Something like that lol. I still stand by my opinion. Doesn't mean I hate every move he's made though and I'm still rooting for him most and will pick us to win every game we play.. I just don't hate Gus. He was a coach here for almost a decade and TWill is one of our most beloved former players. I hope they knock it out of the park down there (unless they are against Auburn). I would love to TWill to end up as our HC one day far down the line.

I don’t hate Gus either bro. What he did here keeping a clean program was admirable and respectable, but that was still only half the job. The rest of it got him fired ,so now I’m throwing my support behind Harsin. I guess you can support Gus too but I’m not seeing the same slack that some of y’all gave Gus.

Hey Corch,
name change please
Can we get: jonesing for football It's been a long dry spell and it's obvious we natives are getting restless.

Malzahn is starting to get talked about like we do ex presidents. They were great after we vote them out of office.

Yeah it’s funny to see as you can probably find posts from them begging for his firing. I don’t hate Gus, but he’s gone and I believe rightly so.
I have a good feeling about Harsin and feel he will bring us back to where people fear playing Auburn and get us in a position to win more consistently. I get why people are down about the current recruiting. It is uncomfortable no doubt, but I expected it to be tough going. I have said I am giving him 24 months or three recruiting cycles.
Obviously there needs to be clear signs of positive steps forward. I personally think it’s crazy how some just think this man will fall flat, but that’s their right. Time of course will flesh out which Harsin we get. War Eagle!

I think I can speak for both Lanier and myself. We were probably the only Gus supporters on the board the past year.

Other than running a clean program, what gave you hope for the future?

Same for me. I would like to see him do well down there but Im not watching it. I am watching what we are doing here.

And some of us do not see the same hate a lot of you gave him. It works two ways baw. Some of the stuff being posted here, mostly by robots, are comical. His time at Auburn is literally one of the best in recent history if you go by achievements and great moments..

Rock, why is that? What about Harsin made you think his recruiting was going to be tough starting out?
Chizik and Gus took over the 2008 program that was horrific. Hell, the Chizik hire was not even sexy as Harsin was. He brought in a great class the very first year then another after that.
Gus came in after the worst season in our recent history. Brought in the #6 class then a top 10 pretty much every year after that. Even through all these horrible seasons he had that you guys like to talk about
What made it harder on Harsin and why did you "expect" it.

I gave Gus a lot of chances to live up to his off-season promises but it became time for him to move on after it became apparent he wouldn’t live up to them. Lanier, you KNEW there was no hope for that program. I’m not as comfortable with that as you were. Gus was not on the brink of turning us into Georgia or Clemson. We were not getting better every day. He had been in a downward trend since 2015. You can call it hate or whatever but I’d love for him to be my pastor or father in law, but not our coach. Not anymore.

I probably stayed on board with Gus as long or longer than most. I believed it was time for him to go. I even believed keeping him after 2017 was a smart move based on what happened. However, I also now believe Gus wasted that window of opportunity similar to what happened in 2014 mid season. If he somehow could have kept the 2014 D playing reasonably well and won 10 games that season and added another 10 wins in 2018 against Minnesota I suspect many would feel different about him. Heck, if he had just caught a bowl game in 2016 more in line with that teams ability he might of snuck 10 wins.
If money is inevitably a part of recruiting I can't help but wonder if paying the buyout is in fact hurting our recruiting. The cash flow at Auburn is limited albeit large.
Harsin IMO seems like someone that can get things done, but it will always be about the Jimmy's and Joe's more than the X's and O's. My biggest complaint about Gus' recruiting classes in my mind is that all 5 stars and 4 stars aren't equal. A 5/4 star rush end, DT, OT or QB are more important than a 5/4 star WR, OG or safety. Gus lost a lot of recruiting battles for the key positions and seemed to win them for the others.
Maybe it goes back to development or program culture, but when we did when the few key 5/4 star position battles I never felt like they developed on the O side. On D the only one that really stands out in my mind was the Bryon kid.

It certainly was not thriving but I wont go as far to say no hope. There were not player issues and we were still recruiting well. There is always hope when you have good players.

Totally agree.

True

Not true. 2017 had some amazing moments and if we had not had a major injury at the end of the year, we were probably in the playoffs.
