"Having already won Mr. Football for the State of Alabama, Johnson is also a rising canidate to win Mr. Basketball in Alabama. Nobody has won both, a seemingly unprecidented feat until the arrival of the 6-6 senior."

quote:

“Mr. Basketball is not that big a deal, as long as we win a state championship.”

quote:

Johnson, a quarterback, led Carver to the 6A semifinals this year. He threw for almost 3,200 yards and 31 touchdowns.

quote:

Carver coming off a State Championship last season is 25-1 and ranked #1 in boys 6-A

I read the al.com article earlier today, but they didn't list any stats for basketball (kinda sh*tty when writing a bball article, imo)... does anybody know what JJ averages on the year?... i know he scored 17 in the regional semis today.

Jason Smith had 18 today in the regional semis, fwiw... always love guys who can dominate in basketball and football, ie Nick Fairley.

That's how Tuberville found Sen'Derrick Marks. He went to look at another kid and was in the gym and saw Marks playing basketball.

I really look forward to seeing what Johnson can do under malzahn. Baby Jesus please give us a good qb again.

Outside of 2010, It feels like its been forever since I honestly felt completely comfortable with our starting qb

I love athletes that are good basketball players too. They tend to stand out on the football field.

I'd trade it all for a good defense.......

From a high school point of view, JJ is one of the the best pure athletes this state has produced in a while... all-state and state champion in basketball his junior year... mr. football as a senior... could add another state championship this year.

I'm definitely glad he's coming our way.

Aundray Bruce was also one of the states best basketball players back in the day.

Any chance Gus lets JJ play basketball? Lord knows the basketball team could use the help.

He's gonna concerntrate on football for at least his first couple years on campus, per the article I read... I'd be surprised if he ever plays basketball.

I'll put it this way, if he's playing bball for AU, then he probably didn't pan out as a football player.

Yeah, it's one thing for a guy like Bruce Ellington at S Car to play both, but I'd really prefer my QB to focus solely on football.
