Time for Bruce to use the NIL to get us a couple of good walk ons for a few years lol. Honestly, we got away. Bruce and Co did a good job self imposing. The way we recruit losing a couple scholarships isn't a big deal. Bruce will figure it out and make it work.

Correct. Probably UNA too. Great timing actually.

Which assistant takes over?
Posted on 12/10/21 at 12:05 pm to TheJones
I would guess Steven. I'm pretty sure he was the coach when Bruce missed a game before.

As far as I can tell, Ira Bowman and Wes Flannigan are ahead of Steven. Im sure someone will give that info later today.

** Violations center on Chuck Person abusing his trust for personal game. The FBI investigation led to many arrests and NCAA reforms. Person has arrested and pled guilty to providing bribes.
** The NCAA also uncovered another potential violation of a former assistant coach paying for the tuition of a former player but couldn't confirm.
** The committee also accepted all self-imposed penalties and noted that AU made the postseason ban for 2020-21 before the start of the season.
** Forde wanted to know if NCAA took into account the recommendation by the Condoleezza Rice committee of handing out five year probations. The NCAA rep said the penalties have to be weighed by their severity.
** The panel did take into account Bruce Pearl's previous show cause and it factored into Pearl's penalty.
** NCAA said there were inherent competitive advantages for Auburn and that there were additional violations above and beyond the Chuck Person investigation.
** The 3% fine of men's basketball budget is for current year.

There’s not really anything to appeal. Two schollies and Bruce missing two games we should easily win.

I just want to see Kansas burn. If they sneak by on a one year ban and some bs after the lifetime contract and all quadrupling down, the NCAA is finished.

I guess we view "not really anything" differently.

It's 2 schollies TOTAL spread out over 4 years. So it averages to 12.5 per year instead of 13. Not so bad.

On the first one, Why is Forde asking about what Rice talked about?
On the 2nd, now that makes sense that bc Bruce had already gotten into serious trouble, they felt like he couldn't get off scott-free, since the rules state the HC IS responsible for what his assistants do.
And on the 3rd, I don't follow this.
Are they saying that the NCAA found OTHER violations beyond Person AND we had advantages AUburn inherited?
Why would they state 'other violations' but not indentify them?
Also, how did Auburn have competitive advantages? Are they talking about with what Person did?

On the bright side, Bruce Pearl may be the only coach in history to get to 600 career wins twice!

From Matthews:
** It's the loss of two total scholarships over four years. NOT two each year for four years. That's essentially nothing. I'm pretty sure AU has 12 on scholarship this season with Preston Cook getting one so that takes care of half the penalty.
Yeah we are good.
