Is Marshall making bad reads, or are the reads becoming harder to make?

He made some damn good reads consistently last season. Have teams started some tomfoolery on defense to make correct reads more difficult? That would seem like the best way to slow down our offense and it has seemed like Nick is making way more bad reads this season than last.

When they put 8 in the box it's difficult. He didn't make great reads tonight but shite happens

We were running much easier with a full box against Mizzou and UGA last year.

They were selling out on the ZR by shooting LBs through the gaps every damn play.
The ZR doesn't read LBs. So even if NM made the right read off of the DE, the LB was blowing the damn ZR play up.
It was up to the coaches to call different plays to offset that. They did that a lil, but not a lot.

Yep and look at our OL. Losing Robinson and Kozan off the left side of the line is a game changer

OL whiffed a ton today and they were bringing more than we could block. KSU sold out completely on the run and gambled that Marshall couldn't beat them. They were wrong

Where were his bad reads tonight? If Williams catches that one and he puts the other two on the money to Coates that's about 170 more passing yards. Not to mention the number of drops.
On at least two of the tipped passes he made the right read and was throwing to an open receiver. Execution was the problem tonight.
ETA: If this was talking about the reads in the running game then yes he could have been better but they had pretty much everything covered. That's why our receivers were open most of the game.

JMO but it looked like he could not run full speed tonight. You could really tell the one time he actually had space to run. He did not even turn on the jets then.

So Marshall wasn't necessarily making bad reads, they were just selling out to make every read a "bad read". Similar-ish concept, then, I guess. Gotta get the passing game going to stop that shite.

We are talking read option runs not passing plays are we not?

This.
Their LBs never even thought about dropping into coverage. They were shooting gaps all night long.
And, I repeat, with the ZR Marshall isn't reading the LB's. He's reading the DE (or the DT depending on the blocking scheme called).

One of the worst offensive performances by a gus team. Nick made bad reads bad throws etc... blocking was bad and out of sync. Just we never got into a rythem. Glad EJ was there to save the day.

As many times as Gus bailed out EJ, he was due

Remedy?
I liked when they do the crossing running plays just to make the defense have to prepare for it.
Not sure what the name of it is when Grant or Louis go in motion.

The ones he missed would have resulted in TDs if he made the correct read. Thats why I say he had a bad night.

Our OL was better last year. I said it here during the first game, and was severely chastised for it, but our OL needs to improve greatly. It also shows how much we miss Prosch.
