they've only allowed robby 9 attempts. very small sample size. thy need to let him throw otherwise defenses will continue to stack the box and his running ability will go to crap. they're not setting him up for much success so far this season. i'm not an ashford apologist either, just think they haven't done as well playcalling as coach carnell and co did last year, which is honestly disappointing

It’s 9 too many. He’s terrible at actual passing… this shouldn’t be that complicated.

It's limited to 9 because they already know RA cannot pass. It's by design and not an error.

truly they haven't set either qb up for success so far, imo. they are constantly switching them in and out, and neither can find much of a groove. when robby comes in the defense know it's 90% chance of a run so they can load up. when thorne is in he doesn't pose much run threat.
they need to figure this crap out before conference play starts.

I guess they don’t count the passes that were completed and brought back because of penalties.
They aren’t counting passes thrown in practice and scrimmage! These stats are shite!

Robby does have a signifigantly higher ceiling than Thorne.
Robby more than likely wont ever touch the ceiling though.
We will be lucky if Thorne gets a chance to touch his ceiling. Something about his play reminds me of a lesser
stidham. Maybe he is the next Daniel Cobb. I love hating that guy.

Robby's talent is definitely higher ceiling but his mental game is his downfall. Not saying he's not intelligent, but his struggles is between the ears.
I have no idea what Thorne is at this point, but he has had his own mental breakdowns. Two QB system is dumb.
I'm not sure we have the QB we need in house yet, and would lean to we absolutely do not have the QB we need yet.

I think part of the problem is the WRs too. Not being able to get space 1 on 1 man vs. Cal is a major problem. OL and Running backs have looked good, minus the fumbles.

Robby will never be the Qb his fanboys are hoping for.

Tifwiw, I am NOT trying to play any sides - one of our family friends’ kid who is super smart and in med school went to school and was friends with RA at Hoover High and played ball. He told me he was truly dumb as bricks and simply not coachable
. He could be a skill position player and play slot WR or even outside and catch a few balls and run out in space rather than sit behind a line and do the same thing 99% of the time. Plenty of QBs who are speedy have gone on to play skill positions at the next level. He is likely too stubborn or getting some really bad advice because no way he is going to sniff being a scrub team QB at the next level.

As the last person off the Keihl and JJ train I find your commitment to Robbie admirable

Thorne’s play so far has made it pretty easy to stay onboard.

So then which is it?… are our coaches, who see these kids everyday too dumb to realize Robbie is the man?… or are they intentionally sabotaging the team and their million dollar careers?

Just going to copy and paste.
Freeze thought the experience over the higher ceiling players was the safe bet, IMO. He liked how Throne followed him around and was a film junky. Now Throne is showing maybe he wasn’t as safe of a bet as he thought.

I think Freeze thought Thorne would be better than he has been. The 1st scrimmage made him rethink that, and it has carried over into the season. For all we know, Holden might come in and beat both of them out before the season ends. I just want to win games and look competent for the recruits. Thorne being timid and not seeing the field well isn’t impressing any recruits.

That's an undeniable fact. He'll never be the QB that any of us were/are hoping for. I was hoping for improvement with him since Freeze and Montgomery got here but it hasn't happened yet.

I feel this way as well, but with Robby being relegated to the redzone, it is 100% true
