Yeah not sure the issue at all at OT in Gus’ tenure we have put multiple OT’s in the league. Most recruiting followers believe that to be the benchmark for getting the talented guys. We have more success recruiting the interior guys but put much less in the league. It baffles the mind a team that finds itself in the top 10 at some point in most seasons has as much trouble getting solid 4 star OT talent especially with the depth chart. Ashley was the only really high rated guy that was a bust that I can remember but he’ll he couldn’t even cut it at a smaller school and had to transfer again To an HBU and never heard from him again.

Corch, is Crum a good backup plan?

I haven’t studied him at all. Will try to take a look at what I can find in the next day.

Well J'Marion Gooch is set to decommit at any point.. Really not like our back up options either. Seems like Rayvon Crum is next up and I'm not impressed with him at all.

I was probably least excited about Gooch. His weight is a problem. A lot of coaches don’t seem to be too concerned though

That said — we needed him. Crum is fine

Coach Bicknell seems to like the larger players when it comes to players kind of equal in talent

I believe the talk on Gooch semi recently was that he had lost a bunch of weight or am I remembering that wrong?

Its not that I think Crum is BAD. I just don't think he's very good either.. He's project that MIGHT see the field junior/senior year. I watched the whole game PV had against HT and while he didn't really get beat or or pushed back, he also didn't have any push at all. For a guy his size he should be way stronger and way more physical than he is. In addition to getting no push that game he also didn't have a very good initial punch. I realize some of those things can be coached up, but I think he has a LONG way to go before he would even come close to seeing the field for us.

Honestly after I watched him it made me really want to go back and watch Orr.. Still haven't done it, but he must really need a lot of work to have Crum over him.

Watch the game from week 1 against HT if you can find it. He wasn't bad, and he was facing good competition, but for a guy his size and being talked about as a potential SEC OL I expected more. If he pushed anyone more than 1 yard off the line of scrimmage that game I didn't see it.

Gotcha HT’s front 3 whipped their tails all night at the line of scrimmage. Even on the Koolaid long TD catch the reason the safety lost coverage was because the QB was running for his life. So no I don’t think the kid would be sec caliber starter. Maybe could provide some depth. But again with the success of our run game plus the number of OT’s we put into the league we shouldn’t be having trouble finding multiple starter level players and just on occasion take one based one possible upside.

I’m not sure I would get into the Orr game right now. I Think he’s probably a little more talented then his rating but has some serious personal issues he is going to be dealing with for a while. Plus who knows even in an accident he could be facing some type of criminal charges.

Crum has the necessary baseline size and athleticism. If he can be a guy that rides pine for 3-4 years and fills a gap in his last year or two then that’s fine IMO

I agree on Orr. I feel badly for him but there’s red flags galore right now

I agree for the most part. He has the size and athleticism for sure.. but we have enough guys like that already imo. We need impact guys. I'm not saying don't take him period, but he wouldn't be a take for me right now. There has to be some more guys we're looking at and just haven't heard the names yet. Maybe someone will show out now that a few states are playing or about to play HS football.

Totally agree! We have plenty of depth filler types that can develop by junior/senior seasons to provide emergency backup potential. I see no need in using a scholly on another one of those in this particular class. If he does decommit or we move on from him then shoot for some stars. Go all in. Also reach out and see who is committed that might want to jump out of class that they are the 3rd or 4th option on that team.

Crum is announcing tomorrow. Sounds like AU

He’s the next obvious take. And we’d still be pursuing others. He’s just a replacement for Gooch

If so thank goodness we were able to fight off the Campbell Fighting Camels for the commit.

No idea where to put this but Justin Fields was at UGA this weekend for their scrimmage lol. I thought UGA was as a racist school?

Yeah... this isn’t the place for that. Thanks

Prefer this be a drama free, gossip free, no bullshite place. Just recruiting and the various roster/player related things that influence recruiting.

Absolutely no talk of racism, politics, or any other current events here.

Wasn’t trying to bring race in other then that’s how he got his waiver from UGA. And not rumor was reported on 247. More on the incompetence of the NCAA.

Just to be transparent and for the other recruiting folks here to prepare — I have no intention of doing the next recruiting thread. Once this cycle is done I will likely stop posting here altogether.

This board is incredibly toxic and I no longer enjoy contributing to it. I’ve honestly had a blast posting here for the last decade and change but it’s time for others to take over. Sometime in February will be it for me. Just hoping things don’t get too much worse before then but I’m committed to seeing this thread out.

Not looking for attention or for anyone to feel sorry for ol’ Jonesy. Just want this last ride to be fun and without any added bullshite
