Auburn makes 3* TE Lake McRae’s top 6.

Another kid from Texas. Offer list doesn’t match the rating

Lake McRae

Looks versatile. Saw TE, HB, and WR plays in his highlights

Perfect for Gus’s offense. No idea about Chad’s. Doesn’t help he missed all/most of his junior season with an ACL.

Honestly, we’re in a weird spot. Need one TE. Seem to be involved with most of the top 25 TEs but I’ve got no clue what they’ll look like in this offense

Former Iowa OL Jeff Jenkins to enter transfer portal

quote:

After stepping away from the Iowa football program in January, offensive lineman Jeff Jenkins will be entering the NCAA Transfer Portal, a source confirmed to 247Sports. Jenkins was ranked as the 206th best prospect and the No. 8 offensive guard in the 2018 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-4 275-pounder selected Iowa over offers from Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Kansas, Northern Illinois, Purdue and Toledo. More schools tried to come in following a stellar senior season, but Jenkins never wavered.

"Jenkins is a good athlete who is well accustomed to the power football game the Hawkeyes play," 247Sports wrote about Jenkins once he signed to Iowa. "He is good out in space and is aggressive in the trenches. He looks like he may need some work in pass protection, mainly because Prairie Ridge did not pass all that often with a guy like Samson Evans (another Iowa commit) running the football behind him."

Jenkins was a candidate to replace former Iowa center Keegan Render in 2019, but after Tyler Lindebaum switched from defensive tackle to center, it was going to be difficult to overtake Linderbaum, especially with all of the hype surrounding him.

“He’s obviously a strong guy, and he’s a lot quicker than a lot of people give him credit for, too. That’s a big thing at center,” Render said about Linderbaum when he switched positions. “You’re low on a lot of blocks. He’s got the quickness to get in front of them, and he’s got the power to finish them.”

Jenkins will have three years of eligibility remaining at his new school. The former high school standout was one of the biggest risers in the 2018 class during his senior year.

"Jenkins has seen his stock really rise as a senior based on what he’s put on film," 247Sports' Barton Simmons wrote about Jenkins in 2018. "His name is buzzing in college recruiting offices but he’s committed to Iowa. He’s strong, tough, blue-collar interior player that plays both sides of the ball in high school."

Wonder if we'll try to go after him

A few of those pump fake keeper highlights look an awful lot like NM

not trying to start a Snowboard Cam discussion, but I've read elsewhere that Davis isn't close to his listed 6'0 height. Anyone have any insight on this?

Someone posted his scouting report. Nutshell. He is short. Great mobility. Not elite top end speed, but elusive. Elite accuracy. Needs to work on arm strength. Has excelled at the 6A division in TX (which IMO is very important). I don't like private school QBs.

The stream is up for his commitment. They are doing some preliminary stuff now. The announcement is scheduled for 10 AM still.

Unlikely. I’m pretty sure we used all our scholarships for new enrollees for this class already except for the ones coming this summer Who have already signed.

So he's a less speedy Kyler Murray?

If he's Tua-esce, then I don't care how tall he is. Until Joe Borrow, Tua was the only QB we've faced recently that scared me.

His style of play pairs well with the TEs we have been after. This is a REALLY good pickup and another metric on how our O will be constructed moving forward. Seems like Gus has pivoted.

In terms of base set of skills — more Kyler than Tua. My usual caution label applies here. It doesn’t matter what the base skills are if they aren’t used.

To be determined how the offense looks. Huge pickup and a clear indicator of what Morris wants to do

He’s probably 5’11 but he’s not small. I wouldn’t expect him to get beat up in the SEC. he’s built like a running back
