Sometimes I miss the pageantry of big NSD, these early signing periods kind of ruined that, but it also gets less athletes being super egos with the 5 hats and giving fake commitments

Not sure anyone else cares about this but I think it was important not to cram this class full of kids.

Next few classes we’ll have the opportunity to load up with guys the staff has actually had time to evaluate and get to know

Nah. They didn't go straight to the Rivals 100 and start offering starting at the top. This class is a failure.

FAILURE!

We're so screwed.

2022 Thread — that will go up later today or tonight

I really appreciate everyone that participated in the discussion here this cycle. We had some really bad months on this board but this thread nearly always stayed on track without any moderation from our friends Ross, Rig, and LCT.

Yeah, I'm good with it. No need just to throw kids onto scholarships for numbers.

Main take aways.

Not just plugging bodies into empty holes. Still expecting to sign more in next 48 hours. Didn't go Flipmas. Said he knows there's still holes and the plan is to fill by summer.

eta(fill - the holes - he never mentioned signing to full capacity)

This is the right way to think.. This is kind of what we all knew the class would look like in the end after a coaching change.. Some good players and some guys with some good qualities with a chance to develop.

The flip thing is just weird so far though lol. I'm beginning to wonder if someone changed their mind.

This is true but you can't just tank a class these days. Especially for Auburn who lost so much this year. I think they really need to sign some talent in the portal or it will end up hurting us for years. If the signing class is bad and we end up with a bad season next year, it will be tough to recruit next year.

We need something good to happen to get the momentum going. Either a great class to show we are strong or a strong season

If everything fails, it will go down hill fast. Look at what we are facing right now in the SEC

There is no next year.

Absolutely. Alabama just signed 15 guys in the top 100.

We fell behind substantially with this class. I think filling it to the brim for the sake of it would have put us even further behind as future classes are handcuffed. Rip the bandaid off and get to work on 2022

I imagine Saddam Hussein speaking this way to a group of supporters right before he went into a spider hole to hide from our troops.

Jonesy I thought this was your last recruiting thread. Did i make that up or did you change your mind? This place wouldn't be the same without you that's for sure.

I did change my mind. Lanier pointed out that I would almost directly after I posted it.

Put plainly and honestly — I was very frustrated with the the state of this board late summer and into fall and had stretches of days where I didn’t even look at the board or the recruiting thread. Fortunately, the football season came in and revitalized the conversations around here.

Looking forward to a less politically charged Aubie board in 2021. I am still nearing the end of my time doing this. As my personal life and family grows I’ll eventually have to move recruiting way down my priority list

People forget I used to have really, really shitty recruiting threads here. People demanded I stop doing them. The absolute worst threads and you assholes would dog me everytime I posted

Luckily Ellitor and TigerPaw came along and put some actual effort in. Did Sandman do one? I remember one other person

No fishing today baw.. Just making these baits. What makes you think that? If you took my post as some kind of negative, you are just looking for it to be so.

Im just saying that that stakes are getting higher and higher. We can't tank a class and it not affect us big time right now. We need to recover and get some forward momentum. I don't honestly see this class as it sits as that. Hopefully, we can pick up some talent from the portal then have a solid season to help with recruiting next year. In my opinion, it will be a huge decider if the new staff will be able to compete.

Need those Jims and Joes right now.

All I remember doing Recruiting Threads were Sandman, Ellitor, TigerPaw, TTs, you and myself, and that was when we would do like 2 threads a year because they would get to be too big.

It's thankless work. So thanks Jonesy.

When this shite is over I'll head up to Denver and buy you a beer.
