My old stomping ground.
Be careful with those hooks. Spent 3 hrs at a dock in the box last night getting one cut out of my hand.

Just about caught one in the face. Casting spoons off a huge weed mat catching chicken mahi and it popped out and flew straight back at me. Landed a couple with some red snapper, amberjacks, mangrove snapper, triggerfish and a bonito that whipped my arse. Sharks and dolphins were a real pain in the arse. Had to move several times.

Looking for some of your grilling recipes. I gave the Shot Gun Shells a try last weekend. They were good but Im looking for any other options you have. I also did some wings on my smoker last weekend for the first time and they were excellent.
My shot gun shells were - 1 pound 90/10 Ground, 1 pound ground hot Italian sausage. Fresh grated cheese and some run all mixed together. Shoved that in the Manicotti shells then wrapped with bacon. Put them in the fridge for about 6 hours to soften. Smoked on 300 for about a hour then basted with Stubbs Sweet Heat sauce. Back on the smoker for about 10 mins.
They were very good. I know other good recipes are out there. I found one that made them with Buffalo Chicken and cream cheese. Looked good
My wings were very simple. Just cut them up, covered with Meat Church Voodoo rub, let sit for 30 mins then put on the smoker for about 45 mins at 375. Turned them twice. I tossed half of them in Moores Buffalo sauce and half in Stubbs BBQ sauce then back on the smoker for about 10 mins to make the sauce sticky.
I have always loved wings but just never wanted to mess with them. I will certainly be doing them again. One of the most popular things I see is people flash frying them after they take them off the smoker. Anyone doing that?

A local barbecue place does and the wings are really good. They have a crispy exterior with tender meat. The sauce is amazing. I have tried to duplicate it at home with only moderate success.

Yard work.
I have a crew coming next Monday to basically remove most of the plants in our yard and replace them with newer, better shite. Some trees as well. I am totally nervous about it as its costing a arm and a leg and I dont want it to start to die after they leave.

Im going to stay home the 4th and 5th, then probably work the weekend. Wife is working both days so I probably will as well. Then take some days off the next week when she is off
I really want to take my boat down to Sarasota to join in on the sandbar action but I am nervous about that crazy scene all day

Nothing going this weekend. Maybe yard work if I don’t die.
Was sick as a dog all last weekend. Lost 9lb the hard way. I’ve got some drinking and smoking to catch up on.
Next weekend gigging all weekend at the lake.

I am not a certified Gardner or anything but have worked with plants my whole life: optimal time for planting shrubs/trees is usually during the dormant season when it’s neither too hot or freezing to let the roots establish which can take a few months. So usually Sep-Nov and Jan-Mar for Florida. Just fyi to bring up with the contractor if you are planning to be spending a good bit.
