But for a championship team, you have to have at least 4-5 guys on the team that are so violent that there are good chances they spend their adult life in prison.

We need to score more points and win more games, I think.

That has to be the mantra for this years team. We have extreme upper level talent in a lot of spots but are still young. Being physical, effort, and energy will define this team. I’ve said it over and over. We will win the games that we play more violent then the other team. It’s really that simple.
Our Head Coach is WAY too PASSIVE for any of this.
It is what it is.

Eric Smith, Derrick Brown, Troy Blackmon, Shaun Shivers and Nick Fairley will handle his bitch arse

For me, better execution / connection / intelligence from the QBs and receivers and making field goals are of much more importance than being violent.
Hugh Freeze has shown that he can dial up plays (an advantage for Auburn).
He has not shown that he can coach preparedness and execution.
Once we execute on offense and make field goals, we will be on the fringe of making the playoffs. Then we will have a chance to really recruit with Georgia and Texas and become massive, powerful, and violent on a consistent basis (all which are needed to be 50/50 with Georgia and Texas).

You are living in the past brother. The only chance we have to recruit at an elite level is to be elite level spenders. There are some schools we won't be able to touch when it comes to that.
Posted on 6/30/25 at 11:15 am to RandySavage
You are probably not wrong about being able to out recruit some schools.
But all we need to do is to get into the tournament.
I do believe Freeze has shown an ability to out coach others on game day.
That being said, having more talent is the better option.

We have Five star talent at Qb.
We have the best WR core in the country.
We have the best OL in over a decade.
Our defense has talent all over the field.
Our special teams have aids.
I'm not calling for the playoffs, but Im saying there's a chance

Please provide some data.
I guess beating A&M at home was good.
Any other really good wins?

Defensive side yes we can out scheme some teams if we would get out of the players ways sometimes.
Offensively I haven’t seen anything in the past 2 seasons to think we can “out coach” any team. I can’t think of one group on offense that has an elite coach. Actually I can’t think of one group that has an average SEC coach. Nix, nope. Austin, Nope. Ben A., absolutely not, Thornton, nope. Marcus Davis, good recruiter maybe average coach, luckily for us we have Maurice Harris on staff to help guide him in his coaching journey.
Special teams have been the worst in my lifetime as a fan. Granted we actually have a guy now that coached successful special teams before.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but it seems we were actually "in" a lot of games - just failed play by qb and receivers.
Freeze does have a good track record of such things, and Saban wanted him as a play caller, this can't be denied.
Without execution, dialing up plays is not related to wins (execution is his fault).
Doesn't matter - this year will tell - I for one am optimistic, Freeze never was complete junk and he didn't turn to complete junk overnight (at least in football coaching).

If just for a play caller, I’d rather have Gus. FSU will be better this year. OC is a good spot for Gus.
Hugh has some good games on offense, but there are too many shite the bed moments at the end of games to instill a lot of confidence.

Is Derrick Nix known for anything on offense? What is he bringing to the table?
Posted on 7/2/25 at 8:08 pm to AUX3
Nix is supposed to be a recruiter and supposedly knows Freeze’s system. He’s a yes man that’s supposed to stay out of the way.
