If we paid gus 7 fricking million dollars a year, we need to burn the AD down.

What the flying frick.

Most Auburn fans are bipolar welcome to the club.

It's not my money so I don't really care.

No details are confirmed. And no, we wouldn't.

Auburn University is paying Gus the exact same dollar amount we paid him two weeks ago. Gus is just getting a bigger piece of endorsement/booster money.

And where was the booster/endorsement money going that it isn't any longer?

Jesus guys, we needed to keep Gus but don't be illogical about it. Money is finite. We can't just print it

Clearly the people with the majority of the money don't mind. I donate and I'm a student. I think my money is well spent.

That's fine and all. I'm specifically addressing the "hurp it's not my money durp" crowd.

Has Gus exceeded expectations? I’m confused.

Are raises given out for meeting minimal expectations?

5 years in and he was about to get fired 4 weeks ago. Now a raise without a trophy.

This does not compute.

What are the credentials of other coaches in this pay range

In the coffers. Don't think Auburn is taking out a loan for the extra dollars in Gus' contract.

There are more upgrades that will be coming out soon. Auburn is not hurting for money.

7 million may sound like a lot but revenue for Auburn is up 27 million from 2014. I'd imagine will see another increase this year.

That's not the point. You compare his resume to other coaches.

He isn't worth 7 fricking million dollars

Bad year to buy my boy. Gotta secure and hope for the best. It’s a bad market right now.

The problem is A&M fricked the market. Arkansas took their cue and threw stupid money at Gus so we had to offer stupid money to keep him because if we wanted to hire a proven coach to replace him we would still have to pay stupid money. Just how the market is now

I would have felt a little better about 6 mil (which may be pretty close to the actual number... guess we'll see) but he was already making close to 5 mil anyway. I just don't think it's worth losing the momentum we have built to flush it and start over. Recruiting would take a massive hit and the instability would cause attrition. That, combined with the trouble of learning new schemes on offense and defense and you're talking about a half decade until we even have a shot at stability again. I don't know, it just seems worth the money to avoid that.
