They talk about KJ but at the end of it said that Holland stated he planned on coming back. I hadn’t seen or heard this until now, anybody else heard it?

Someone said it on here. I think it was in the mock draft thread.

Ah well it does make me feel more optimistic about next year.

He said that right after the uga loss. I wouldn't put to much into it. Like any player should he will take his evaluation into account and weigh it against his ceiling.

He isn't the guaranteed pick at end that so many Auburn fans believe he will be, he has better measurables than Carl did last season. However, he'd benefit from returning IMO. He doesn't have 1st round measurables or production so 2nd round would likely be his ceiling this year with 4th round being more likely.

This is where I lean against you and say he should leave.

quote:

He doesn't have 1st round measurables
Not something he'll have next year either. No growing left for him.

quote:

or production
Likely won't change next year either thanks to our depth

so 2nd round would likely be his ceiling this year with 4th round being more likely.

Get to the league and get paid. I'd take my chances that my grade won't improve enough YOY to make up for the difference in cash that I'll be missing out on

Can't disagree. But two years of high production can move you from 4th round to 2nd round.

Doesn’t get much better than that...

When I questioned production I was looking at it from the NFL perspective. He essentially has 1 season of production. That normally drops you in the draft. He played on a DL where it was difficult to double team him, that can also affect your draft status in a negative manner. While his measurables aren't pedestrian they also aren't off the charts.

I am not trying to down grade him, but I find that fans have unrealistic perspectives of players NFL status while in college. Holland will play in the NFL, but he is far from a sure bet. If he came back and had similar production next year it would be easier to project his NFL capabilities.

bullshite. His production is phenomenal for what he'd be drafted for.

Take the emotion out of it. Look at his production. Then look at past NFL drafts...when has a guy with his measurables and only one season of production gone before the 3rd round.

Staying and reproducing the same or similar stats IMO would move him from 5th or 4th into the 2nd maybe late 1st round if he killed it at the combine.

Nick had a much better season than Holland and had NFL DT measurables to the "T".

I think I read somewhere that he had promised his father he would get his degree and that is why he will likely come back.

That’s awesome if true, you don’t see that often.

It is an admirable thing no doubt, but these kids and families aren't dumb. NFL shelf life is finite. You can go back and get your degree afterwards, even when your 80. Got a leghumper coworker who swears Roquan is coming back bc he promised his grandmother he'd graduate. I said well great, but if I were a financial planner I'd tell him that's a dumb move. His 1st round draft status is way more valuable than a college degree at this point. And he can go get it in 10 years anyway. Will never blame any kid for going early

There is a huge difference in being 1st round and 2nd. Honestly if you can't assure that you'll be taken first 3 rounds generally you should return.
