Aka I’m right and you’re going to resort to shitposting. This is comically bad. Especially considering your low standard.

His recruiting has to do a complete 180. If he was bringing in big names I don’t think this is even a conversation.

"Good recruiting" is really a fallacy that keeps resurfacing.

If you think that Nick Saban's early recruiting, say from 2007-2011, didn't require massive booster support ($$$), you are just kidding yourself. Over time, the Championship narrative boosted Bama recruiting even higher, but this all starts with money. Same for other successful schools. I'm not saying that one set of coaches may not have a slight advantage of silver tongues. But they are all selling the same thing...to a point. And that point is money.

If you want to make an indictment, and it's likely valid to some degree, is Harsin should have worked harder to endear himself to the right boosters. Then, the money would have flowed and we would have done better in recruiting and in the transfer portal. But to lump it all in and just say, 'He's a bad recruiter.' is really simplistic and misses the mark wide.

Someone will jump in here with "but look at his coaching mistakes", and I'll point to his OC and DC. The PTB obviously wanted him to get coordinators with SEC experience and that was forced. That worked out like anyone should have suspected. If you go back and listen to all the player interviews this year, when asked what is different, MULTIPLE players and coaches talk about how sideline and play communication is better this past Spring and Fall Camp. That tells me that Harsin never got on the same page with his coordinators. If you are going to hire a guy, you ought to let him bring in who he wants. Don't hamstring him on several levels (coaching choice, recruiting money) and expect him to be a world beater.

I'm not saying Harsin is awesome. I'm not even saying he's average. I don’t know. But what I am saying is give him the same tools as you would if you hired Kevin Steele or Kirby Smart and make your assessment then.

You can be talking to someone else in whatever thread and he will jump in to bitch and complain. It's exhausting.

But I wasn’t bitching in this thread. The only person bitching itt is you. You’re the same poster complaining about white T shirts last week. So why are you doing this??

I get what you’re saying but I don’t fully agree with this. The boosters didn’t inhibit Saban from recruiting well but they didn’t provide Saban the juice either. And if you’re actually solid in your conviction here I need to know in what way you’re claiming their boosters helped Saban. Saban was already a NC winning coach and a coach with NFL experience. So yeah he could sell money.

“This season feels different. We are more focused and all of our teammates have really formed a bond” are just a few examples of preseason hype fodder that are recirculated year after year. The sideline communication stuff is basically a main stay for Al.com Auburn preseason coverage.

Umm yeah? Are you insinuating dodge Chargers stuff?

Harsin’s staff has doubled from Gus’s staff. I need to know why I’m supposed to believe Harsin was set up to fail.

I have it on pretty good authority even though we have had some dysfunction in getting NIL going. Money for players isn’t an issue for deals if a player comes to AU. Now are we offering 100k a year? No but money is available for players and isn’t the biggest issue in recruits not picking Auburn.

CorchJay!! You hit the nail on the head. High School relationships in the states of Ga and Ala suck.

Again, Bryan Harsin is a good football coach and the type of coach I'd like my kid to play for but he is not equipped to do the other parts of the job required to be successful in the SEC.
