I feel like we always say this. Then come time for the UGA game, we think he's gonna unleash something genius. But it's the same 'ol shite.

The general lack of football knowledge on this board is sometimes frightening.

I was watching this LSU Film Study vs Texas and it just reminds me how bad our offense is right now. LSUs linemen just look SEC quality appeared to ours - i'm talking physical appearance. Now on all the plays he breaks down, their line for sure isn't perfect. Many times a Texas guy is getting through. The receivers though seem legit. Run great routes, catch the ball consistently. Our biggest threat at wide receiver the other night was Will Hastings - something is wrong with that (I know we have injuries). In all the plays he showed - with AUs offense the result would either be a pass to the receiver closest to the line of scrimmage, QB scramble, or chunked 40 yards down field.

It is really disappointing. We got pushed around by Tulane. They need to get angry and take this shite personally. We need some mean and nasty attitude.

The biggest change I have seen is the volume of pass attempts. I am honestly surprised, given Nix is a freshman.

Credit to a caller named Tex yesterday on the Drive who pointed out that in the Tulane game, Defensive strategy was stacking 8 in the box allowing the LB's to shoot through those gaps, and when we actually show run, bringing down a safety, forcing Nix to throw the ball more to open up a run game. So, this has our QB throwing 29 times in the first half, even though he clearly isn't ready for that type of game yet.

It won’t be the last time. Teams are going to force Nix to throw and take advantage of our lacking passing scheme.

Sorry to crap on your favorite play coach... Is this run up the middle play that never works just a set up for the new version of the wirly bird and other secret plays that will be unleashed on down the road? Please for my sanity show me how calling this play over and over when it's not working is basic football 101 and displays my lack of football knowledge.

Thanks for taking my call and I'll hang up and listen!

I love this board and all of our fans, we have beaten two good teams with a true freshman qb. We will get better as the season goes on, but the schedule will also get tougher. If this turns out to be a 10 win season I will be ecstatic.

Here's the best part...

Malzahn’s offense has four base running plays — inside zone, power, counter and buck sweep. The last three are known as man- or gap-blocking plays, as individual linemen are responsible for a specific defender or will lead the way through a certain area of the defense.

Inside zone is foundational to a lot of modern offenses, including Auburn’s. The inside zone is a building block to many of the Tigers’ play-action passes and run-pass options. When the inside zone is working as a running play, the defense has to be on high alert for a variety of possibilities.

It didn’t work against Tulane. Here’s a look at the performance for each type of running play Auburn used in Week 2:

A successful inside zone play requires offensive linemen to be able to quickly secure blocks, often in one-on-one situations, in order to let others get to the second level and create explosive gains. Auburn’s offensive linemen rarely reached the linebackers against Tulane and sometimes had problems holding off Tulane’s down linemen, especially nose tackle Jeffery Johnson. Auburn clearly tried to get the inside zone rolling after mixed results against Oregon in Week 1. But the interior of Auburn’s offensive line didn’t get enough push up front against Tulane for it to be an effective play. Of the 16 inside zones Auburn ran against Tulane, 10 of them went for three yards or fewer.

Cleary shows the up the middle plays don't work. If we had better O-line play yeah but until we do something different needs to be done.

Still no TEs.
Not using Hback position except to block
Shitty Oline
Shitty pass routes
Slow developing runs
Slow developing passes
No Tempo

People keep saying this but we have had guys open in both games. Bo just hasn't been hitting them.

Our Centers both came in under 300lbs and our RT is a whopping 296. Look at our Oline compared to others LOL. Them boys aren't hitting a sled or eating their Wheaties. Soft as shite

Bo has missed only a handful of passes. 1 was tipped last game the majority are throwaways because our OLine is shite. There's been a few drops as well.

All of our passes are outside of the numbers. We've ran 1 slant this year. No crossing routes, and no seams.

It is exactly a setup play and for the most part it functions as it should.

You thinking that play doesn't work is what displays your lack of football knowledge.

The inside zone play is designed to suck in linebackers and safeties. When using similar formations and personnel, it allows an offense to have a quick hitting play that allows depth of plays to piggyback. When running optimally, which we aren't doing right now, sweeps and play action plays typically have less defenders in there immediate areas due to defenses having to provide extra support to stopping the inside zone.

Our right interior line play right now is bad. In order to run Gus' offense successfully, the interior offensive linemen have to be capable of maintaining a 1v1 block to allow the H-back to get to the gap backer.

Years of piss poor OL recruiting and development have significantly hindered what we can do in Gus' offense. I'm beyond frustrated by the level of talent that we have to work with and I do not seem much hope for improvement until we make a big change in that department. What I fear is that we are going to grab Ryan Pugh from Troy after this year or next and to be honest, he needs another 5-7 years before he is ready.

I'd like for us to make a run at Bill Bedenbaugh or Greg Frey, or maybe even Dwayne Ledford.
