He has been hurt for a few games. I think they have been rolling a few games with a true freshman

Gus' record is 21-11 at UCF (65.6%)
He was 68-35 at Auburn (60.1%), so he is doing better at UCF and they should keep him. Second note, since the magical 2013 season, he has never loss less than 4 games in a season.

Gus is what Gus is. He plateaued as a coach a while ago. I’ll eat crow if he ever evolves beyond a 60% winner. It’ll take hitting on a special athlete.

Now look, 60% looks good when you’re winning less than 60% of the time (Harsin years)…but when your accustomed to or aspire to something more, and see everyone passing you by that number just doesn’t get it done.

Annnnnd….he just got an extension

quote:

Sources: UCF and coach Gus Malzahn have agreed to a contract extension through the 2027 season. Malzahn agreed to terms early this summer and the school raised his salary to $4 million per year on July 1. The deal rises to $5.5 million annually in 2026 and 2027.

UCF fans are delusional. UCF will always be a mediocre football program, especially in the Big 12

By your own argument you should be fine with Freeze doing everything he can, including pulling bodies from Texas Southern Womens Bible College in year number one.

But you are not fine. And why is that?

Why are you so quick to throw away our historical record to Vanderbilt but so passionately defend your 7-5 thesis.

Fake...

I am fine with it. I just not sure pulling Jr High players to go against varsity guys is the way to improve on our historical record

I dont really care about either. Im more concerned about Auburns record in the past 50 years than I am before that. Im not defending anything. Just saying what it ill

If you dont like the 7-5 historical record or the 755/8-4 record the past 50 years, think about how bad it would be without the 3 "rent a wins" every year for us. It would be ugly

If you are going to throw shite at other programs , just make sure it's not splashing back in your face. It's a silly argument saying UCF is OK with 7-5. Nobody is "OK" with 7-5. Everyone is trying to improve. Sometimes it just doesnt happen

The guy is pulling players to fill holes. One of those players actually has a deep role on the team. You should not look past those smaller schools. I have a national college fantasy league and my team is littered with people that are excellent in the lower ranks. We pulled up Marcus Davis because of his sucesses building WRs on the lower ranks. Or, go figure out Cooper Kupp came from. There is talent everwhere. I also would rather we get guys from the P5 but another metric is how the player did against the P5...

They gave Gus an extension so that they can get the staus quo. The historical average means nothing to me. Auburn's MBB historical average is still piss poor but you are not going to see me squatting on vague homer platitudes about where Bruce has taken us. Bruce has shown us the way. Hell fricking TCU, Clemson, Baylor, all kinds of schools that used to be doormats are now national brands. We are not bound to any average. The averages are great for hindsight, not for outlining the future. If our stock system was like your thoughts there would never be a broadening formation as there would never be an equity allowed to push above its historical averages. George Bush would be considered bullish.

I thought Gus was a true gamer, but he got rather complacent. He did great in 2013 with that team. It helped to have Greg Robinson on O-line blowing NFL grade holes in everyone's D-lines.

Down 31-0 to Kansas at half. UCF was a 2 point favorite. UCF just extended his contract and gave him a 1.5 million dollar raise.

Im sure someone will come in and say UCF should just be thankful for what they have.

But we (as in you and I) tried to tell them.
