He didn't have a 10-win season at Purdue, but Purdue has only had one 10-win season in their history. And Brohm's 9-win season there in 2021 was their first since 2003.

I think Brohm is a great coach, but I think Sumrall is a better cultural fit. Plus, after the last few go-rounds, I’ll pass on an offensive minded coach.

I think if we hire a coach other than DJ then I would prefer to get an Offensive Coach & try to retain DJ. That way you keep the class & the defense together. The offense would be good.

Or Promote DJ & then let him go and get a great OC but what does he like to run? Ground & Pound? Go get GaTech OC Mixture Go Go? Go get the HC & Sacramento to be the OC. (He doesn't make much in comparison) Like high flying then Go after TTech or USF coordinator...They use GO GO & Heupel offense mix

You know what that means...

Say high to people all around Auburn, be more down to earth there in Auburn, Be willing to talk with the boosters, maybe invite them to a practice, be willing to bring in past players, smooze as needed. Recruit & put a hard nosed team on the field.

You have seen the successful coaches do it & well others...didn't get the support they needed.

What makes you think a great OC would want to come work for Durkin?

Simple depends on who you get.

So if you go GO GO. that will will expose that HC to more people than just Sac State & he was at UNLV. He makes about 700K now. So exposure & pay bump.

GaTech - Their OC may not want to come but money talks & a chance to go the the playoffs.

USF OC - Because Kodi can probably talk him into it & bring Kodi along. So by learning the offense Kodi can be a follow on when Gordon leaves.

Take a shot at Mike Shanahan to test his experience in the SEC from the Big 10 without the shadow of Cignetti...He can run the RPO game.

Still would need a QB coach

You do realize that if we had an offense that was say mid pack not elite they would be talking about us in the National Championship hunt. Our Defense has been one of the top Ds.

Most here think Charles Kelly is too old at 58.

I am adamantly opposed to Kelly and it has absolutely nothing to do with his age. He is 5-3 in Conference USA. He is a first year head coach at Jacksonville State. Hiring Kelly makes us look desperate. We may be desperate but there is no point in announcing it publicly by hiring a head coach who wouldn't get an interview at any other SEC school.

Oh, I realize that. I’m just saying what top OC would want to come work for a proven loser like Durkin, knowing the staff will probably be getting fired in 2-3 years?

I wouldn't call Durkin a loser. Just unproven. An OC should be licking his chops knowing 24 is good enough to win.

Would be nice to do what Okie did and bring a quarterback with him too.

Harsin proved why cultural fit matters. I’ll take the guy who already has connections to the state and the SEC over an ACC guy who is coaching at his Alma mater.
