Worse than Clint Mosely (2011), Kiehl Frazier/Jonathan Wallace (2012), Jeremy Johnson (2015)? Seems to me to be similar. Remember the year, Gus put in 5 different QBs in one game?

You're not, but others are.

And maybe Gatewood could have provided a spark. Or maybe he is Kiehl Frazier or worse and the decision for Gus to keep Nix in is much more obvious than any of us see?

LoL no he is NOT.

Oregon- 13/31 177 2 2
aTm- 12/20 100 1 0
TULANE- 19/37 207 1 0
UF 11/27 145 1 3
LSU 15/35 157 1 and 1

So that means Bo is 70 of 150 (46%) for 786 yards with 6 TDs and 6 TDs vs any team with a pulse.

Thats JJ6/JF3 level of play vs anyone with even a decent team.

Since when did 46% and as many interceptions as TDs become "serviceable?"

Sean White was "serviceable." Nix is playing as bad as any QB in modern Auburn history.

LiKe he tOtallY Is duDe! LOLOLOL

Serviceable is beating two significant opponents away from home in your first few games as a college QB. It's practically the definition of the term. Those are games against "quality" opponents. It's moronic to dump in away games against top 5 level teams and then let that skew how we look at his performance (which, I note, nobody claims is particularly great) against other lesser but still quality teams.

Is Bo serviceable against elite teams? No, not yet at least.

Bringing in Gatewood would require Malzahn to run a different offense.

Yeah but allnwe heard all fall camp was how Nix was the #1 DTQB in the class. If he is infact a DTQB, the playcalling wouldnt be that different. Sure we may run inside zone read vs outside zone read but the rest of the offense could be run without changing up much of anything...

Unless of course you are all now defaulting to the stance Nix is no more of a DTQB than Stidham.

When Stidham came out of high school he was the #2 ranked DTQB, and the #1 ranked DTQB when he signed with Auburn.

I dont think anyone would suggest Stidham was really a DTQB and its time you people open your eyes to what Nix is (a passing QB with terrible accuracy,) and what he is not (a legitimate threat to run the ball.)

All, please stop citing the TAMU game as an example of Nix struggling. If you watched the game, it was at worst an N/A.

But I don't necessarily take issue with the concept that Bo is the better QB.

This is what is driving people mad right now.

The sample size is small, but he’s made very few mistakes in his very little time:

Passing: 5/7, 71.4% completion rate, 2 TD’s, 0 INT’s

Rushing: 29 attempts, 148 yards, 5.1 yards per carry, 3 TD’s

I realize Nix has been in much more difficult situations, but from what we’ve seen, JG hasn’t made any bad mistakes, he played well in the spring game, and has done well when he’s been given opportunities. The only negative we’ve heard came from Gus, in the form of the offense didn’t score during fall camp when JG was QB. Fans never saw that. We’ve seen mostly positive from JG, and we’ve seen average play at best from Nix. Maybe Nix is head and shoulders above him talent wise, but the play on the field isn’t settling the debate. It would be much easier to accept if Bo was playing better and Gatewood made mistakes when he was in, but that’s not happening.

Gatewood wasn’t a 3-star Malik Willis/Woody Barrett recruit. He had over 30 offers, won the Under Armour All-American game MVP, and he’s huge. The offense is stagnant and fans want to try something else, at the very least let JG play when Nix is visibly shaken and playing poor.

Of course I did. Serviceable is precisely what Nix was vs. Oregon, Tulane and A&M.

Oregon- below average QB with one good play that happened to win the game.
A&M- long run by Schwartz, Gatewood TD pass, and the team carrying Bo to the victory.
Tulane- was bad. Our offense didn’t pull away until Whitlow stayed in the wildcat in the 4th.

The answer is:

THEY WERE ALL PULLED. Not once in their time did Gus see them play like they did and say that he had no intention to even consider making a change.

All I can say is best of luck to Gatewood and Patrick should have pulled Bo long ago.

Gus is going to ruin him like he has done others. I find it hard to believe people are still on the bus.

Having the capability of being dragged to the finish line= “serviceable”

Yeah sure. 12 of 20 for 100 yards is an amazing game. How anyone could consider that stat line struggling is beyond me.

They must just hate Bo Nix

Did he screw something up? No? This is called "serviceable"

"Serviceable"

Listen, you've been an invested as a cheerleader for Joey since the Spring and I don't want to dissuade that because I like Joey just fine. It's just silly to deal with this cringeworthy grasping for straws week in-week out because your favorite player hasn't risen to the top.

AKA Just don’t turn the ball over and pray that the defense doesn’t stay on the field 100 plays. We could’ve ran a Joey Gatewood Power Zone offense and achieved that.

Since 2016 actually. No slight assumed.
