I remember 2012. This team is not that team. A few lost games had Auburn ahead in the statistics. This team moves the ball between the 20's and can't find the end-zone after that. Had two field goals not been missed... I'm more optimistic than most despite this string of losses. I think Auburn will surprise some we don't expect.

Exactly.. we aren’t far off..

Hugh’s sale pitch is look beyond the record and really dissect it. This is what got our highest WR class.

He says guys I screwed up with my evaluation. I will bring you a star QB in.

To recruit the QB position… look at tape, it’s there.. you need to come in and make the passes to the WIDE open receivers that Thorne can’t see.

We are heading for 8-10 losses, whatever Hugh’s transfer portal strategy for year 2 was, it has been a failure. There’s no need to speculate on what Hugh wanted this year because this is certainly not it.

How do we know what the boosters said? What if Freeze went AWOL wanting Cam Ward, and he was told no, spread it around for more positions..

He wanted McCall.. but was ineligible. We tried getting many QB this portal but all slipped away..

Watch him speak at any of these post-game pressers or weekly pressers. Does this seem like a guy who believes that everything is going as planned? He looks dejected and even scared. There is zero confidence from him.

If I was a head coach and my team was playing like the Bad News Bears, I would feel the same.

We have lost games due to stone hands, INTs, and missed FGs. You can coach all day, but players need to execute!

If anyone watches the guys that break down the play calls you will see its a coaching scheme issue at times. The receivers are bunching on the routes putting two people in the exact same area. This is allowing 1 defender the ability to block two passing lanes. The plays arent designed to give the qb a check down. It seems like whoever is designing the pass plays is semi retarded or something. Its not giving the qb many options to find open receivers. Several different people have pointed this out since game one. I dont see how multiple ex athletes can be wrong on this evaluation. That to me is 100% coaching!

The QB is only part of the equation. The offensive line has a role to play as well. Tom Brady would struggle if he was playing with our O line.

The end of the Mizou game was coaching, or perhaps coaching fear of Thorne throwing to the wrong team. Mizou had the box packed like a can of sardines and the plays were run, run, run for 3 and out. With normal confidence that kind of packed box is an invitation to burn them with a pass.

The second part. It’s hard to coach any kind of offense when you have one of the worst QBs in the country and refuse to bench him.

I am willing to understand your post up to this point.

Freeze wants to win.

Put down your PIHB fascination so your QB evals can get cleaned up.

Thorne sucks. But in the end, Freeze decided to roll with this clown this year. Jang about to jump in here and tell me he is better than Nico.

Doesn’t seem like it. We have seen shite QBs that are far better than PT being benched all over the country by coaches trying to win.

Despite yesterday Payton still has more TDs, passing yards, and a higher QBR than Nico. Just saying.

I am envious of having a real QB room then.

How is ole Trent doing these days?

You are correct that stats are the foundation of any opinion. However, they are just one pillar. Who those stats are generated against is another.

Look at Nico's stats aganst pretty much every opponent.

Nico had a 80+ QBR against Bama but other than Kent and NCSU, has not 60 QBR once.

Thorne was above 60 QBR in three straight games against Arky, Oklahoma, and Georgia.

Not that it matters much, because I don't think Thorne is necessarily the biggest problem this team has, but Nico has more passing yards, total yards and has turned the ball over far less than Thorne... plus he's a true freshman versus a fifth year senior. Of course, Nico has a much better line in front of him and better coaching.

We will need a better QB than Thorne for what Freeze wants to do to work. The problem is, Freeze didn't see that himself coming into this season. At this point, I'm much more concerned about coaching than QB.

I agree. It's why I am not mad at Thorne. The HC is responsible for who is on the field. If Thorne, Hank, etc does not have, then you find one. Curt Cignetti said he pulled up Google and started researching QBs. It's not an overly complicated process. You just have to tell people to pound sand if they aren't producing. You can't get attached to any one player.

Thorne has 1 more passing yard than Nico on 12 less attempts according to Espn.

Nico only beats Payton by total yardage by 15 yards.

Nico cannot be a true freshman because he played in last year's bowl game.

Nico is indeed in a better spot but he was paid 8 million to be there. Just pointing out sitting on a QB and paying for one isn't much different.

Would Auburn fans tolerate Nico knowing Auburn paid him 8 mil?
