Can Thompson or Simmons return punts?
Simmons is waaay more electric. I vote that guy if he can.

Mausi was a huge pick up in the portal. He is one of the few who played well on the defensive side of the ball last night. Hope he stays healthy. Right now you could make an argument that he’s our best LB.
Asante is still looking pretty solid too.
A 4-2-5 base with those guys at LB would be a good starting point to correcting some of our defensive problems IMHO.

I read the average time last night between snap and his release was just under 2 seconds. Gonna be hard to pressure someone on a regular basis that is getting the ball out that quickly.
And he is doing is progressions before release.
Jville the 2 seconds is correct, and much faster than the average, much faster.

agreed. He is a great get.

If the 2 second part is true then Hank has a chance to be special. Concerned about his wheels though. He has a lot of white boy in him.

This is exactly why I'm worried. Yes he took a hit but against better competition that pass is probably intercepted

I agree that I think we will never win a championship without a true dual threat QB, but Hank can take the next step in winning 8-9 games in the meantime.

Don't get too excited.
We're about to get beat down by every halfway decent team in the conference.
I think we're about to lose the next 5 games.
Ahh, a downvote. At least tell me who you think we'll beat in the next 5 games.

on the longer throws it did look that way
On those 3-5 yd throws, are those determined coming out of the huddle or based on what he sees at the LOS? A savvy DC should be able to bait him into the quick "open" throw for a possible INT.

Yea, 4-2-5 would be the move imo.
I hate this shite where Mcleod, Crawford, and even Faulks drop back into coverage.
I was really disappointed in McLeod and Crawford the few times I saw them rush the other night though.

fortunately at least three of our SEC opponents are not “halfway decent” so we have a chance in those games
but this Saturday is the bellwether, win this one and Freezus has a chance at quieting the murmurs of discontent
a loss here and suddenly 5-7 looks like the ceiling

Maybe-
You never know. Oddly- our defense looks to have emerged as the source of concern. We can’t afford to get behind and be in a catch up game.
I also think Hank will be subject to young QB mistakes against better defenses- meaning interceptions. However, if he can run the RPO slightly more effectively than Thorne we should be able to generate some points. We can’t however- get too far behind. With the new clock rules- if we are more than 2 scores down- there simply won’t be enough time in the second half to get enough possessions to come back.

I'm a realist, with a touch of pessimism..
Yep, Petrino is going to score all over us.
We're just not very good. I had a lot higher expectations coming into this year. So far a huge let down as usual.. It's going to get bad in the meat of the schedule I'm afraid.
And stop letting emotions get in the way. Look at this objectively. Offense and defense are a lot worse than I thought. Hell, how many punt returns are we going to fumble or bobble? Can't even catch a punt 100% of the time like pretty much every other team does. Just something else to hold your breath for.

Objectively, Thorne had issues last year that went beyond the WR's and OL.
People rationalized those away, and you see that nothing has improved this year with PT. SOSDD.

We had 4 guys out, and one is arguably our most talented player. I like our chances vs Arky.

Here's how I know Hank is a good QB... He is making Camden Brown relevant. No other QB has been able to do that even against the weakest competition.
