I respect your opinion, but do not agree with it. Obviously, I can't speak for you personally since this is a message board and we don't really know each other. I would say that many opinions as you "express" are often in our culture racially skewed. As I said I don't see it as racism, but a reality of life. To be clear I wasn't trying to accuse anyone and tried to make sure I was only sharing my perspective.

Here is the issue I have with your thinking, beatbammers thinking (if there is such a thing these days) and the way things seem to be getting set up these days

I like college football and most college sports. I cheer, have season tickets, travel, do message boards, buy apparel, discuss and overall love and respect the sports and everyone who plays them. I cheer the players, who by chance are 75% black. And that is cool

But when there is one player, who in this particular discuss at times can be a showboating cry baby, that I may not agree with his antics 100% of the time, I am all the sudden a racist or my view is racist because he happens to be black,

I am sorry but that is not the case and nothing you or anyone else can say will change that. I just dont like his actions. I dont like the fact that he is all in everyones face then when it goes bad, acts like a 3rd grader who had his lunch money taken from him. He is very unprofessional at times and that has been shown a number of times.

I am not such a programed person that I like or agree with every player just because he went to Auburn and because he "rustles jimmies" on a internet message board.

Now to the question at hand. "Am I racist"? Absolutely. And so is every single person on this board and breathing on this earth to a certain extent. I don't feel I am racist to a point where it changes my decisions or my daily actions but to believe you are 100% not racist to any extent is absurd. You are and you always will be. Its human nature. Our job as humans to be strong enough and smart enough to not let what level of racism that is in all of us to control our actions towards others.

https://www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/28627/ron-rivera-brings-levity-to-presser-with-cam-newton-fez-hat-image-on-t-shirt

quote:

Asked if Newton, who has worn a brimless hat the past two Sundays to his postgame news conference, gave him the shirt, Rivera shook his head no.

"This is really just a celebration of Santa Cam," Rivera said, referring to Newton going around Charlotte on Tuesday night delivering $100,000 in gifts to the needy. Newton introduced the brimless hat, otherwise known as a fez, two games ago after a 31-24 victory over Minnesota. He said it was inspired by Atlanta rap artist Andre 3000, otherwise known as Andre Benjamin.

Is Cam having fun out there? Only when he is winning.

Does Cam act like a spoiled, entitled child? Yes

Does Cam like attention? Most definitely

Is Cam one of the absolute best athletes to ever play college ball? Without question

Am I a Cam fan? ONLY because he went to Auburn

Let the gift of Cameron Jerell Newton keep on giving forever and ever and ever. AMEN :

This a difficult topic to have an honest discussion about it and this is a terrible medium to try to convey thoughts. I feel like I said something similar to what you just said.

I was suggesting that people tend to react differently to others based on cultural/racial differences and IMO that doesn't make a person a racist but it also doesn't mean a person isn't influence by race.

I agree with your opinion of Cam, but I also believe a huge portion of our culture (white southerns) I only use them because I know them well though I believe (white northerners and mid westerners aren't much different) often react different to an African Americans antics than say a white guys. Gronk is a wonderful example of people accepting his behavior as "just Gronk" where Cam is often portrayed as X, Y, or Z.

While I do believe for some, if not many, these responses are "racist" in nature. I also realize as you suggest about yourself that they can also only be racial in nature...after all my guess is your culture affected your perception of peoples behavior just like mine.

I realize you are addressing me and beatbammer at the same time, but I have made it clear I don't consider your opinion racist and accept that it may only be racial skewed.

He doesn’t get (or want) credit for half the work he does in his community.

I love Newton, but sometimes his comments/actions make me cringe. Mostly, it’s when he loses and comes across as a poor sport. With that said, I can overlook it due to the good he does off the field.

My only concern is his health. I hate to think he’ll develop some of the long term health affects from all the hits he takes.

I am an unapologetic Cam Newton fan. The fact that he rustles so many jimmies on the SEC Rant is the gift that keeps on giving and giving. They all know he is the greatest player ever in the SEC and he won a title at Auburn and that burns them up. Nothing better.

As much undeserved hate that has been placed on Cam in the past and present, I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that some Auburn fans, so confident of their own spotless righteousness and integrity, feel the need to ADD on to that hateful burden.

Anyone can feel free to dislike Cam all they want as far as I'm concerned, its just that the "OH HAI GUYZ DONUT WORRY I THINK HE'S AN AZZHOLE 2!" Auburn people that publically virtue signal that view to the world (i.e. to the Bama and UGA fans who will pat them on the head and tell them that they're really very good boys for agreeing with them) really piss me off.

Guys. Its Christmas.

Lets not get our asses kicked at a sonic over Cam.

Instead. Why don't we make snow angels for a two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.
