Unranked Auburn ends up in the NY6/Title Games. It's just a fact.

Not shocked by this, but it does signal a dip in perception by the media. Gus, with all of his faults, still got the benefit of the doubt when it came to preseason rankings.

Not sure that's really the case. With a new staff, new systems, etc., it shouldn't be a surprise.

We weren't ranked in the preseason in 2013 either. Not even in "others receiving votes."

review the preseason rankings during Gus's tenor and the final results and you will see that it is the case.

Gus's first year was following a 3-9 season. No reason to be ranked.

Last year we finished with a better record than LSU, beat the shite out of LSU, and yet theyre ranked 16th and were not.

ie: if Gus were still coach, we would be ranked in the top 25. Easily.

That might be true but I don’t know that we’d be ranked 25 because of Gus. We’d maybe be ranked there because we aren’t installing a new offense, defense, and have 10 transfers (in and out) because of it

No real way to know but it’s not as clean of an example as it’s being made out to be. Regardless, I’m not sure the difference between 5 spots is significant enough to indicate anything. As usual with most things in life, it’s a blend of a lot of things. Just my opinion

Most of Gus' tenure we came in 7-8 spots overrated it seemed to me. We also got the benefit of the doubt when we did win big games and get big bumps as well. As much as we hated him the national guys loved him.

Being ranked and unranked is a difference, maybe not significant given where we would be placed in the top 25 with Gus, but noteworthy nonetheless.

I didn’t say you were wrong. If anything, the opposite. Just dialing in the reasoning which is more interesting to me.

Like I said, nuance is often lost

haven't been to auburn for any reason since we beat down Arkansas 56-3

man I can't believe googling that to find the exact score that it was 5 years ago

got a 2 year old who would enjoy the pre practice festivities

Sounds like Hunter being a no show the other night is a non-story, according to Hoke.

Didn’t see any rumors, just a lot of panic.

Piecing together stuff from various outlets makes it sound like Hunter and Troxell were isolating from COVID exposure and missed the scrimmage.

If Trox was out and Council at RT for the first time then no wonder the OL was a shitshow in the first scrimmage

Nah he’s much more of a baritone with his booming voice.
