Finally getting some clarity on first string. Players getting healthy and back on the field. Feels good man.

Add Louis and Stevens to that.
5 people can't be on the main target list then it would just be the target list.

Anyone think JJ will get the start with NM coming in to run the wildcat? A two QB system is a possibility, right?
God, I hope not.

I certainly hope not. I'm sure someone will come in and tell me how 2 qb systems can work, with examples, but I just don't like it. Never has seemed to work out great for auburn, that I can remember at least

Nuh uh, does too.

How can CJ not count as a Go 2 guy? Lutz was a TE and he was definitely a Go 2 guy.

Well me either. I'm just not getting the vibes that there is any distance between JJ and NM. I'm sure there's info we aren't getting. It's been harped on, but NM's ball security still concerns me. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. I just have the feeling JJ leads, which would leave NM in a gray area.
Either way Malzahn is creative enough to smooth it out in a productive way.

No, I think (and I know I've said it before) that they are driving greater competition between Marshall and Johnson by telling everyone how even they are. I think Marshall is the guy and has been for a a little while. Athletes want to be the best at what they do. When they are told that "you're no better than that guy", what do they do? They go out and try to prove themselves. That's what Gus wants to do. He wants Marshall to take the wheel.

wouldn't surprise me at all if there was separation between the two, and the coaches were using one to push the other (likely johnson pushing Marshall, but who knows).
a fine line to walk, b/c whoever the starter is will need time to develop chemistry with the rest of the 1st team... probably why we'll have an answer in the next couple days (by the end of the week anyway).

*** Starter at quarterback could be named tomorrow, but looks like it will happen no later than Monday. Malzahn feels good about a lot of battles elsewhere, too.
If Monday is true, I was pretty close on my prediction in the QB thread.

Id like to set the Before/After for Gus naming who the starting QB will be
I am setting the day at August 21st.
But, the earlier the better..

I skimmed through and thought you meant as one of the 3 primary WRs that will get playing time my bad

I like the fact that they are not giving any info. To me, they are giving both the same opporutnity and after a thorough evaluation, they will name a starter adn that will be that.
No two Qb system, no wishy washy Les Miles crap.

I'm really excited about this offense... WR needs to develop some consistency, but I feel good about OL, RB, TE/Hback, and QB. With a mobile QB, we should be able to put up some impressive rushing numbers.
Defense, I think we're gonna stuggle again... I don't get the impression guys are stepping up like they should (with the possible exception of corners and star positions).

I think our defense will be a bright spot mostly because if we have an average year, people will shite a brick. I think our DTs and DBs are going to be improved. Hard to really frick up as a LB corp when it is just two people
