Yeah, I mad about Holland. But if he can be average and get the D lined up correctly, we'll be alright.

If Jake Holland can just be mediocre or average, that will be a massive upgrade from last year... It's hard to believe he's improved as much as Ellis Johnson is leading us to believe. I'm definitely going to have to see it on the field in game 1 against Washington State.

What's up with the no media? Is that normal? What might it mean? Gus playing things close to the vest?

We'd better have some insiders. Got a feeling the QB cut is coming soon and don't need media second guessing.

Coaches usually shut down practice to the media in the later part of fall practice. They want to install the more complicated parts of the offense and don't want everyone seeing that part.

Justin Hoke and Jay Tate were quoted as saying that Gus Malzahn keeps things a lot more closer to the vest, so to speak, when compared to Gene Chizik and Tommy Tuberville. As fans, we're probably lucky to be getting this much information as it is.

Linebacker Jake Holland has battled through a number of injuries to start 16 career games for Auburn but he enters his senior season with a lot to prove. He finished the spring on the second-team after a class conflict limited his practice time. I think he’ll win back his starting position and finish up strong
A quote from Bryan Matthews all the way back on page 8...

And I thought he was losing credibility. Wow.

Sounds like they don't try and lead people in the wrong direction but the information faucet isn't flowing as freely either

Yeah, I remember thinking he was a little off on that one. Guess he wasn't. I hope Holland has put on some muscle.

Team notes per AUC
-NM best on run plays..JJ best on pass plays. Sticking w/ pick of NM as starter but very close. Expects both to play this season.
-RBs and O Line continue being strong and heart of offense. Could surprise teams with power run game in early season. CAP has been very impressive. Him and Tre will get bulk load.
-Despite CRG's tough love the D Line has improved this Fall. Can be pretty good and if they listen to CRG it's impossible for them not to be.
-CL and ED should play a lot. They are not there yet but should turn the corner soon once they have the install down.
-Monty has huge potential and is all the staff hoped he would be but he is not guaranteed to play this season.

Which should mean we'll be told officially what we unofficially know to be true

I'd rather they just wait an announce a starter when they know. It doesn't matter to me who are the top 2 or 3, just say it when there's a starter and who the backup is.

Wow...either he is good or the rest suck.

We have to have an accurate passer more so than a strong runner.

Maybe JJ is the man from the get go.

I look at it this way...

Both Jeremy Johnson and Nick Marshall are better passers than Kiehl Frazier, and Jonathan Wallace, and that's even with their improvement from last year to this year. Regardless of who starts, we should be upgraded at the position, and the scheme should make them look even better than a normal, pro-style offense.

Bryan Matthews expects Nick Marshall to start, as of now, because of the rushing attack that has been so successful in scrimmages. He said the offensive line and running backs have looked really good while Nick Marshall has been under center.
