quote:No thanks. I don't want a 2 QB system honestly. I know they can work, but I rather have 1 QB taking 95% of the snaps
I still like the idea of starting JJ and letting NM get about 10 snaps a game all read option and qb draws

No, if anything it would help. Put more years between them if we don't RS JJ.

Or, that could mean our D still haz the suck. Negatiger rant over.
quote:Very possible.
QBs didn't go live today, I'm guessing Gus is pretty close to naming a starter.

that might be the best thing sadly. if they can't win it now, they won't win it later down the road.

I don't think either transfers.

Hypothetical for the board:
Marshall gets the nod as starter and leads us to wins in the first three games. Its week four against LSU, and we're holding it close in the second half when Marshall goes down with an injury and is unavailable for the rest of the game, if not longer. Of the QBs remaining on our current roster, whom would you want coming off the bench in that situation?
My feeling is, even jf Marshall gets the #1 gig, if JJ is clearly the next in line then I'd rather not redshirt him. Even if he only plays sparingly this year.

Well we would burn rs on jj if nm goes down
Posted on 8/10/13 at 2:59 pm to FearlessFreep
Well, since redshirts aren't declared until the end of the season, I think we wouldn't know until it was time for him to potentially step up
Posted on 8/10/13 at 2:59 pm to FearlessFreep
So was there 6 TDs today or were they not sure who JJ threw a TD to?
Posted on 8/10/13 at 2:59 pm to TheJones
I'm with you. If JJ is the better QB, start him now.

The thing about Marshall is that he won't be able to fully display his running ability until the regular season games. That probably hurts him, as it is his greatest asset.
I say, start Marshall, let Johnson backup and not redshirt. If he ends up performing well, with his physical ability, I could see him being a first round pick. He wouldn't be around for five years anyways. Of course, if he doesn't perform well none of this matters.

Why not do what McCarron did and RS unless needed. If the starter goes down, you burn the redshirt. Otherwise they just don't play. Let KF and JW hand the ball off in mop up duty

I made this exact point in the QB thread. It's worked pretty well for Alabama. And as much as everyone hates comparing us to them, that's something they do that I wouldn't mind stealing.

NM will start. JJ will play two series per game for the first 3 games. He will then have a undisclosed injury. He will not play again the rest of the season unless NM goes down.

Agreed. Not likely at all.

Because I said it would be for the best doesn't mean I think that they do. The fact is that Frazier is just too far into school to transfer out and where would Wallace go that he could start, possibly Troy or another small school? He would have to sit a year and then have one year left to play.

If both transfered before the season starts, they would have sat for a year and have two years left of eligibility
