Word is Gus told the team today that Bo Nix is the starter.

I don’t believe this was ever a close competition. Bo is more polished, throws better, and has much more experience leading an offense than Gatewood.

I heard Joey has trouble reading defenses and would panick if his first read wasn’t there.

I agree. It’s weird Nix won based on his accuracy when I could’ve told you he had better arm talent going in.
Just weird.

I made this list in another thread.
I just want you all to stare at that list for 5 mins then comment.
I actually wanted Gatewood. I thought he would be the better selection from behind this computer. But, I trust Gus and the thought of a 3 year starter at QB has me a little giddy. Has not happened in a very long time on the plains
2007 - Brandon Cox
2008 - Kodi Burns
2009 - Chris Todd
2010 - Cam Newton
2011 - Barrett Trotter
2012 - Kyle Frazier
2013 - Nick Marshall
2014 - Nick Marshall
2015 - Jeremy Johnson
2016 - Sean White
2017 - Jarrett Stidham
2018 - Jarrett Stidham
2019 - Bo Nix

T.D. Moultry has ‘gotten back to the old T.D.,’ and that’s good news for Auburn’s defense
quote:
T.D. Moultry wasn’t quite himself last season.
After a strong spring, the then-sophomore Buck took a step back in fall camp a year ago. That backslide bled into the season, and it showed during Auburn’s season-opening win against Washington.
Moultry had a pair of penalties to help extend Huskies scoring drives: a roughing-the-passer call in the first quarter on Washington’s first field goal drive, then an offside flag late in the third quarter that eventually led to the Huskies’ go-ahead field goal early in the fourth.
It all snowballed for Moultry after that, and it wasn’t until late in the season that defensive line coach Rodney Garner started to see a bounceback.
After some frank offseason discussions between the two, Garner has seen a brand new Moultry this fall — and that’s promising news for Auburn’s defensive front.
“He had those two penalties and sort of took a dip,” Garner said. “Probably about mid to late in the season, he started to ascend again. We just got to be guarded that we don’t take that dip again.
I think he had a really good offseason. I think he had a good spring. I think he’s had a good fall camp. Obviously, we got to put all that together.”
Auburn fully expects Moultry to do that, too, especially with a larger role at Buck looming for the 6-foot-2, 243-pound junior.
Nick Coe is the presumptive starter at Buck for Auburn this season, but the Tigers’ defensive staff has moved the redshirt junior all over the defensive line.
He has seen time at Buck, defensive end and defensive tackle during preseason practices, with the interior reps perhaps being most important given the question Auburn faces at that second defensive tackle spot next to Derrick Brown.
As he has done in prior seasons, Coe should see time at each of those various positions this fall, though there could be an increase in playing time at defensive tackle, where Auburn has to replace four-year starter Dontavius Russell while still coping with injuries to Coynis Miller (shoulder) and Daquan Newkirk (Achilles).
The more time Coe sees inside, of course, the more opportunity Moultry will have at Buck.
“T.D., man, he has one gear,” defensive end Marlon Davidson said. “Period. Guy can flat-out ball. I think he's going to come in at the Buck spot and give us a lot of juice, a lot of dominance. Period.”

I just hope he has learned a little control. Seemed like he got a penalty everytime he entered the game last year. Dude was raw
