I'm saying for the upcoming season he was most likely going to be used on special teams or redshirted. Boobie, Kam, Shivers, Williams and Joiner are all ahead of him right now. ( I know Joiner isn't a true RB, but he will get some carries this year.)

Cubelic said the other day that he was confident we would hear something towards the beginning of next week. Whoever gets the gig has some tough shoes to fill

Word on the street is that This will be the new announcer. Brad Law
Rumor is a one year deal to announce football and I assume win over the fanbase. Who knows if any of this is true.

I wish him the very best. As mentioned, very tough act to follow

Very tough. He may do alright

I wish Paul Ellen would be the guy.

Just posting some notes from Marcello’s Camp Insider: Some notes more brief than others from my end:
-MAR went under the knife but we are gaining DJ back. He was cleared for contact and participated in practice Saturday. So gaining one after losing another.
IMO: both should redshirt and not play over 4 games. Our RB roster is plenty stacked as of today.
-Coaching staff demands perfection from Nix. (IMO: This tells me all I need to know as far as who they want to take control)
Nix has been more consistent and more polished throughout fall camp drills. Marcello is still expecting both to play week 1.
-Auburn is in good hands with TD Moultry at the Buck. Has been impressive throughout the preseason. Derrick Hall needs to bulk up before he sees the field.
-Our tigers worked on red zone execution and misdirection plays Saturday while under the hot, early afternoon sun. Today they’re off. Monday’s practice will be the ninth total and third and final practice with an open viewing period.
-Jay Jay Wilson is the most well rounded H Back it seems. Doing well in pass skeletons and blocking. Spencer Nigh seems be Auburn’s main option as TE in pass protection.
-KJ Britt returned to practice Saturday
-Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills attended Saturday’s practice.
- Seth Williams continues to have back problems and continues to be limited in practice. Hastings and Stove continue to sit out for precautionary purposes. (IMO: quarterback-WR chemistry is a concern of mine once they all come back.)
- Harold Joiner worked some at Wildcat QB.
Javaris Davis and Hill both dropped punts on Saturday, leaving Tutt as the only returner that they know of that has yet to drop a punt. (IMO: Gus won’t put up with this, so I expect Davis won’t field punts even though he’s the most explosive. This makes at least the third time he’s dropped a punt in fall camp.
-Smoke Monday continues to work at safety, and at CB as a backup.
- First team linebackers Saturday were Wooten and Pappoe.

quote:Agreed.

Boobie Whitlow, Harold Joiner, Kam Martin and V8Blazin’ should be enough.

quote:Did Gus not learn his lesson when he tried this versus Clemson a few years back? Surely Marcello doesn’t have a ducking clue - I will hope the latter is correct. Gus is stubborn but I don’t see him doing that again unless the starter totally effs up and gets pulled.
Marcello is still expecting both to play week 1.

Little concerned about our WR injuries.

Not really sure.

Hastings and Stove would be green lighted if it was game day. Seth’s is a little worrisome because back injuries can linger. I’m mainly worried about our chemistry as of today.

Am I to believe the coaches aren’t demanding perfection from Gatewood?

It’s either a damning statement or a smokescreen.
Harold Joiner working at Wildcat QB was interesting too. You’d think that would be Joey.

I’m going with just a garbage statement. More than likely, Nix is probably making some freshman mistakes here and there and the coaches are being very strict on them as they know he needs to be ready this season, if if he doesn’t start.
Eh, he did it some last year too. We did legit Wildcat even with Cam. Had Kodi back there.

The reports thus far have a reoccurring motif of Nix being more impressive, being more accurate, and more consistent, and Nix and Gatewood will play game one. There are zero reports of Gatewood making great strides at all. I believe I read he was the first to go out for ZR drills in an open-viewing period, and that’s it. I want Gatewood to win, but not seeing it.
