Damnit I love him. He's right though make him earn the right to wear #2, in fact make it a tradition that if you earned it on the field you can wear #2 as the QB. Gives the QBs something to aspire to be and earn it like our RBU distinguished RBs

Unretire numbers.
They have statues now.
Issue resolved.

I agree. There is absolutely nothing wrong with what Cam said or how he said it.
I’m glad this was posted because to be honest I didn’t think Cam really cared about Auburn. This video clears that right up.
But I totally agree. You want 2? Earn that 2. Otherwise every Joey Gatewood we sign will be wanting to wear 2.

If it's retired, off limits
If not, fair game
This isn't hard

What are yall talking about?
We are paying players 100’s of thousands of dollars to unproven high school players but are gonna worry about a retired jersey number and wanting them to “earn” it? What have they earned to get paid to begin with?
Dumb argument and dumb discussion. Cam doesn’t own the Auburn Football #2 jersey, neither does Bo own the #34, or Pat the #7, or Beasley the #88. I respect the former players and all they did. But we are gonna stand on principle about retired jerseys but at the same time say a coach has to play Perry Thompson so we don’t lose him to the portal. Perry wasn’t ready to be a difference maker this season or really much of a rotation player but fans were bitching from lack of playing time.
Like I posted up above. Unretire numbers, build statues outside the stadium. Put their name on a ring of honor blah blah blah.

I am not a fan of Cam’s histrionics off the field, but I am completely on his side on this. A player who has not even taken a snap yet in a game and may not do so this year should not take the number of one who won a Heisman and delivered a national championship after 53 years.

Because Auburn University owns those numbers. Always have always will.
This is no slight to Cam at all. Retired numbers are dumb.

So because he like dreads and casual clothes now... it equates to histrionics?

I disagree. I am still sad about Beasleyand didn't even watch him play. His number doesn't need to be unretired. Never again will there be an 88.

I blame Auburn for this awkward situation. If he has a statue he needs his number retired.
My thoughts, exactly. Until Auburn officially retires the number, it's Auburn's #2. When they retire it and have the ceremony, then it can be Cam's #2.
Either retire it, or allow players to wear it. Cam shouldn't be the arbiter of who gets to wear it until it's official.

Cam is really like Prime in a way. Appearance is wild and flamboyant, talks crazy, but the guy knows his sh!t. Very football astute mind on him. I don’t think he has ever been really underestimated from a football skill point of view, but always as a person.
I remember when he was being drafted, all the talk wasn’t his skills but his attitude and could he really comprehend the pro game after being in Malzahn signs from sideline offense. Yes he could and did it year one in the NFL.

He dresses himself beyond the norm and he replaced the alphabet with his own slant that cant even be copied pasted here. It's not that farfetched that Cam is theatrical.
Even this is theatrical

It's not a bad thing. Even Bruce was theatrical in our final 4 run.
