Can we steal Ryan Pugh?

Reese Dismukes is the one who floated the idea out there of sending the Auburn jet to Abilene and getting Ryan Pugh to coach the OL.

Dismukes gets it. Oline play and recruiting has been shite since Jeff Grimes left.

We are still not recruiting the lines at a high level.

As someone who is not a student of the game, I appreciate Reese's clear explanations.

I sure miss those O-lines from back then...

I’ve been calling for Thorton to be fired for 3 years now. Him and Kent Austin.

All of our WR/QB money needs to go to the lines. I am convinced you make those solid, and take experienced skill positions in the portal

Yeah, he an some of the other former players and coaches provide some of the best information. It’s definitely better than the media members who just go off of vibes.

Dismukes’ points regarding “the clap” snap count are among the most damning for the coaching staff, given it happened two weeks in a row.

I guess the only positive is they should play a lot better in their home games (unless the boos become too loud to hear the clap count).

I liked the Dismukes video. Is he always on that podcast?

WR yes, but the QB needs to be top priority always. The problem is, Freeze doesn’t know what a good QB looks like.

League standard to have silent counts, unless you are Auburn. The clap is contagious and bad.

I saw that yesterday and was wondering if Thornton was moonlighting in the NFL.

Just watched a video from Michael Mackelvie, who has a pretty interesting YouTube channel, basically saying this is false. Essentially the idea is that the QB is the most dependent position on the field on the people around him. Gave plenty of examples from the pros.

In college we've seen Bama and UGA win plenty of titles with supremely mediocre talent at QB. Ohio State too.

Now I'm not sure how it applies to a school like Auburn where we aren't going to stack 5*s at every position and we may need to Cam Newton to mask deficiencies elsewhere.

Roster management is obviously a new thing in CFB and hopefully we can find the right balance eventually.
