You look at that first quarter our OL and DL were dominating. There were times Stidham had all day... which may have led to his over confidence over his protection.

Then the fumble and the DL and OL broke. 14-0 lead and I don't think either would have broken. The fumble was the play of the game whereas the week before it was the spark for Stidham.

RB is one of the few offensive positions were a kid can contribute immediately as a true FR. I'm not sure why a run heavy offense like we have does not rotate more guys at the RB position.

Yes, its very stupid. Not only that, but our offensive system obviously makes it extremely easy for RB's to succeed, hence Pettway coming out of nowhere and pretty much leading the league in rushing despite being a tweener.

Its funny seeing people claiming that so-and-so "can't run inside" when Kerryon Johnson literally carried that same label every season prior to this year, and we all know he never would have even had the chance to shine if he basically wasn't forced into the role due to Pettway's injury/whatever off-field issues. Martin has shown zero problems running inside, and he was clearly effective in the few touches he got against Georgia.

Decision made by Gus. It got us to the SEC championship and ultimately lost it too.

It is disingenuous to not say that KJ is physically different than his first season and he was hurt so much last season who'd of know what he could do.

But they also went after KJ's shoulder so, how do we know what he was at the start of the game?

You could tell immediately that KJ was not 100 or even 80%

The kid looked timid, tired, slower, and no where close to what he did in the first Uga game.

I don't know that you blame anybody. The other backs look to be talented and they get reps in practice to improve, but there probably is a reason for not giving them more reps in a game. What those may be I can only guess.

Yes, sometimes Gus gets too narrow sighted on one back, but that one back usually proves him right. Do the young ones struggle with anything like blocks, ball security, assignments, etc?

I personally think he should have sat Kerryon once it looked like he couldn't go and just see what happens with the other three. Probably same result or worse but after losing by 3 TD's would have really mattered?

Having a healthy Pettway and KJ would have changed that whole game. Did he go after the right RB's to begin with in Martin, Miller, and Barrett would be a more appropriate question for the OP maybe?

Are you ready to admit to me that we have not recruited enough big, good backs? Thats two years in a row that our lack of RB depth has hurt us

No. I am ready to admit that Gus doesn't trust any of our young backs in big games. Malik Miller is the size you drool over & he got little work Saturday. It's not a size issue, it's a trust issue

I agree but there is a reason he does not trust them.

I just don't think that reason is their size. It could be the case with Martin but not Miller or even Barrett. My guess is there were different reasons for all 3

Martin - size plays a role in his shitty pass blocking
Miller - not really sure on this one. He's a"big back" but seemed at times like #5 on the list
Barrett - freshman who fumble (like he did against ULM) will get you blacklisted by Gus

Miller also had two fumbles. They were at insignificant times but they were fumbles

So maybe we should be recruiting more running backs that don't fumble

Our better seasons with Gus have always counted on one to two players. Could you imagine what would've happened in 2013 if we lost either Tre or Nick? The worrying part to me is it appears like Gus knows this too, which is why we see him play star players at below 100%.

This isn’t unique to just Auburn. If Georgia loses Fromm they’re fricked. If Alabama loses Hurts they’re fricked. And so on...

He definitely ran Kerryon into the ground.

And he ran Pettway into the ground before that. It's what he does..
