I do like Lanning. Lane is number one for me and Lanning and Stoops are 2a and 2b.

The three might not have the “star” power like Deion, but they all know what it takes to recruit in the SEC.

I’m not a big fan of stoops, what big game has he won?

Listening to the guys at on3 talk about what a pain in the butt it can be to recruit to Oregon, I now think Lanning would leave.

I believe he would have consensus with all 5-10 power brokers. Not sure about the others. The "Pat Dye" and "Kirby Smart" factor (young defensive guy) would have strong appeal.

Lanning has a pretty big buyout, around $14M if I remember correctly.

I'd rather take Deion and put the $14mm into a NIL fun.

Only if you don't keep up with what is said around coaching circles.

The talk against him is verbatim the same shite that people were spewing about Kirby Smart back when we had a chance to land him. "His recruiting success is only because of Saban, nobody is going there because of Kirby". "That's Saban's defense, Kirby just runs it".

Kirby was ready for an SEC job years before he finally landed at Georgia. Lanning is young, but his pedigree is impeccable. Here's a fun fact: Kirby has openly told people that Lanning was by far the best recruiter on his staff at UGA, and that it wasn't even close (ie: that means much better than Dell McGee).

Both Kirby and Saban have glowing reviews on Lanning. If you look at what he's done at Oregon, people forget that there was a lot of laughter when he named Dillingham his OC. Then he brought in the QB from Auburn who most people poked fun at. Flash forward to today, and his uninspiring OC hire and retread SEC QB are tearing through that conference.

I could see where some folks would think that about the actual hire - who can compete with Neon Sanders for flash?

But over time, Lanning would be on fire for and with Auburn.
Right there with Bruce and Butch. 24/7.

Would Kiffin? I don't know. But past history seems to indicate not really. You just don't know.

Sanders - who knows. I don't think he stands a chance of getting consensus among boosters, so why waste time thinking about his future.

Look at his tenure at Kentucky. Outside of ‘20 which was a wonky season anyway, he’s built the program up and it continues to go in right trajectory. He knows how to recruit in the SEC. Plus, he’s won his last 4 out of 6 bowl games. He won 10 games last year and on track to win 9 this season (assuming a bowl victory).

Given Auburn’s resources and the talent he could pull, I believe there’s a lot of potential.

Wouldn't really call him an "Oregon" guy he's only been there 1 year and I think that buyout drops if we wait until after the season.

Oregon and Dilly are interesting..... I'd take him in a heartbeat over Grimes or Lashlee.

Still want and think it's Kiffin tho

3 Heismans, playoffs almost every year, top 5 class every year for more than 10 straight years.

Yeah, Sanders would improve on that. Holy shite, ya'll are becoming detached from reality.

I believe that Lanning would actually have a better trajectory and potential than Kiffin..

but Those are my top 4

1. Lanning
2. Kiffin
2b. Sonny Dykes
4. Freeze

If I have to include a 2a it would be Sonny Dykes.
