I’m sure these excuses would work for a 4-3 coach at a place like auburn.

Good. Rooting for Opt Out U to beat the Texas Hill trash.

Those aren't excuses. They are facts.

Excuses can be facts my man
Couldn’t you just hear Gus malzahn now standing at the podium while getting skull fricked by Iowa St on national tv... “well, we got the youngest team in America”... this place would explode

Well we put up with it for eight years. I really hope this Harsin hire works out. I like him. Waiting to see his staff hires. They are going to be critical for him IMO. I am really pulling for him.

Looks
Like Texas AM defense is playing tonight. I may would pick them.
Didn’t get to watch much today. 12.5 hours of inventory today. Probably 10 more hours tomorrow and this nonsense will be over.
I will stop however to watch tom Brady dismantle the Falcons one more time.

I really want to see him do well. I mean that goes unsaid but it would be fun to have a fairly young guy build something here that has not been done for a long time or maybe in the existence of the program. Plus he be around for a while.

Harsin is the most accomplished HC on paper that AU has hired in my lifetime (Shug was already HC when I was born). I think he will end up being very successful here.

I agree. I hope that he builds something special at Auburn. He may surprise a lot of people. He was ready to move on from Boise. I read an article about three months ago that he was possibly looking to get out. No facility improvements there since 2013 and he was pushing hard to get out of that conference. Sounds like he is up for a challenge and was wanting to go to a place that had more opportunity. I hope that he can get the facilities at Auburn.

I was a student at Pat Dyes press confernce when he was introduced on campus. That felt like a fresh start.
Harsin's introduction has great potential. Eventually some of our fan base will not like his big sky redneck attitude. Personally i feel our program needed a big shot of that right now. Reminds me of Dye a little.

And seems like as good a football fit as there is... SEC wise.

I like that he appears to have a chip on his shoulder. Like he feels he has something to prove.
Of course he’s also just been granted generational wealth. Hard to gauge the psychological impact of that on a person.

lol
Edit: I don’t think he’s a redneck, by the standards of most of Idaho, he’s pretty cosmopolitan.
Definitely a native of the intermountain west though...

Had a good day on the Cahaba using the 1/4oz Spotsticker spinnerbait. Wife had a 3+ LM and a 2+ Spot. I caught (4) 2ish spots on a chatterbait I make.
You make a chatterbait? I use a jighead with a weed guard. There are a million laydowns on the Cahaba and a chatterbait without a weed guard isn’t gonna make it.

Awesome. Glad to hear some of them are working for you.
quote:I dont make one. We dont really use them that much up here and they had a pretty solid patent on the way the blade attaches to the head of the jig. You cant connect it directly or you violate their patent. I just didnt want to mess with that. I usually stir clear of things like that.

We do make a jig. I have a casting jig and a football jig. Both have weed guards and they are hand tied so its a pretty solid product.
I also have a self-designed Crawler Head that has a lightweight weed guard on it. May not be heavy enough for what you are doing. My Casting Jig may be best for what you are fishing
I have more inventory right now than I ever have. We ordered a bunch of stuff this year once the world opened back up. I was thinking things could close down again this winter and we would be stocked up. Man I have stuff in every corner of the shop stacked to the ceiling. Ive never had so much to count.

When is it considered too cold to fish? In terms of bites

Never. In fact, I’d argue that the colder the better here in Alabama especially for spots. Some of my best ever days on the water have been in Dec and Jan on brutally cold days.
Here you go Lanier:
A regular chatterbait will hang on a laydown at the least amount of contact. These will come through a laydown just like a spinnerbait. The Cahaba has a million laydowns on it. I built this to specifically come through the wood.

I mean,I can make yoiu some of those with no problem. Do you see the Oring that is connecting the blade to the jighead? That is due to Chatterbaits patent. The best way is the connect the blade directly to the eye of the jig. It runs better and lasts longer.
I am not sure the length of the patent now. It has been around for a while.
As for it being too cold to fish, that is really depending on location. In my area on Lanier, the winter is very good. Water temps 46-50 makes for some of the best fishing all year. The fish group up so when you find them, you can catch a lot of them.
For my experience here, once the water temps get below 45, it is the death zone. Fishing consistently becomes very very difficult. They just dont feed a lot and feeding times are very short.
I have become more of a big vagina in my older age and I honestly love fishing in the winter but hate being out there 10 hours in the 30's or lower. Even though I have good clothing, It takes me too long once I get home to warm back up. This is one of the reasons for the move south.
