So we don’t hire on of the unrealistic candidates, then people bitch?

“unrealistic”

We nearly had Arnett in the bag until Leach got hospitalized, probably worse.

I’m sure Muschamp was realistic.

Pruitt probably is too.

Leonhard is a name. And that’s all you asked for, bitch.

Tony Gibson would be a guy that I consider a good hire.

Y’all sit here and act like we should have a list of names. Just because we don’t sit here and research names for guys we should hire, doesn’t mean there aren’t guys out there available to hire.

I guarantee there’s more guys out there that have more impressive resumes but it’s Freeze’s job to find them. Not us.

I done told y’all Muschamp for now isn’t welcome back to Auburn. Maybe in the future but not now.

Arnett was number 1 for me. But happy and excited for a new brand in the SEC

Wisconsin finished in top-five nationally for total defense four times. His 2021 unit ranked No. 1 nationally in total defense, allowing just 239.1 yards per game.

To the one that asked what system Leonhard runs, I’m unsure. Let’s just call it a badass system.

Just curious if you could actually name a guy who’d get you to buy in (doesn’t appear you can).
I haven’t done a coaching search. This is a lame gotcha attempt. I’d start with someone who has recently been successful as a coordinator or other position coach due for a big time coordinator role.

Your best sell job to get me excited is that I’m not naming other coaches. Tell me what should excite me about these two (doesn’t appear you can).

The Dunning–Kruger effect

This is a sports message board. Of course everyone here has an opinion with very little knowledge or experience.

The AU board if alpinetiger was God:

"Man, we hired some coordinators, not sure about if they're any good or bad, because I'm just a guy on a message board and I only deal in facts and absolutes. It'd be wrong to form an opinion or have expectations."

Agreed. Just curious. That sustained Wisky D success is no fluke.

I literally gave you a list of names and that’s all you asked for.

Btw rumor I read last night is Baylor dumped Roberts for Leonhard.

What to be excited about?

Great schemes on both sides. Both coaches have done a lot and coached a lot. Plus if Freeze succeeds here these 2 guys will probably stay with him 10 years or longer. Home runs in my opinion.

That seems to be correct but doesn’t mean Roberts is a bad coach. Roberts taught Aranda who taught Leonhard.

How come both weren’t successful recently If schemes were great?

Can we describe what it is they’ve done?

Lowspark thinks I’m on the rag but he’s bent out of shape because people don’t react the way he does.

Yes Montgomery was the OC at Baylor for Briles. 4 straight years of the number 1 or number 2 offense in the country. Has put 7-8 QBs in the league.

Roberts defense last year was 3rd in the conference year before 1st. I think led the league in rush defense both years

Muschamp was asked and he wasn't interested. He's happy where he is.

Pruitt has an NCAA show-cause waiting for him. That's why his current job is literally as a scout for the NY Giants. What, nobody else had the bright idea to hire him as their DC?

So as you can see, neither of these two were options.

As far as success it all depends on what talent you have and at places like Baylor and Tulsa the talent runs in cycles depending on experience

I believe Roberts is a tactician in the same vein as Steele vs LSU 2019, or Chavis. That still doesn’t mean all three are great hires. Steele was a fine hire but he proved himself. Roberts has so little proof in the pudding…

Muschamp wasn’t asked. He’s not welcome here. He burned us leaving for SC. It hasn’t been forgotten when we bailed him out of the shitter

Roberts coordinated at top 10 defense 12 months ago…. Nobody is saying he’s buddy Ryan.

Roberts defense is very complicated as well. It want be a fast turnaround unless the players pick it up fast. It is very multiple much like Aranda’s at LSU.
