Yep very few guys get a second shot at this level. He’s not handing the offense over. I’d be happy with a younger guy who specializes in QB development or whatever.

A big defensive coordinator hire with Hugh handing him the reigns would be awesome. The guy needs the ability to have some input on his defensive staff though. A guy like Boom would make me smile for sure.

I think RG would be a good head coach. Still do. But that statement was made regarding to who we had in Harsin. Once the job opened up Aranda was my first choice, then Prime moved to the front. And I always said the next coach would be Freeze after the firing of Harsin. Just go back through the mega thread it’s all in there.

Also the sentiment was if we fire Harsin who could we get… I said RG. And still think if we couldn’t find an “established” coach because how dirty the mean OL’ PTB did Harsin no coach would come.

So yeah I mentioned Coach G over Harsin and still would everyday and twice on Sunday.

And yes for Auburn if we needed a right the ship kind of guy I would have much rather had RG then some out of nowhere up and comer.

I still think a CEO type coach can still make it work. Arkansas ain’t Auburn. But we found a coach with a proven track record. I think Freeze can do a good job here but everyone need to chill the frick out some. I think even with the portal it’s a 3 year process.

Make a bowl game next year, win 8 year 2. Year 3 if you have good OL, DL, and QB play maybe a shot at the playoffs. But there isn’t much rushing the process faster than that. Harsin left us in a huge fricking hole on the roster.

So definitely TWill, C Kelly, TRob, or Joe Whitt Jr?
And RG if no sexy hire can be made? Or give Muschamp a try?
Wayne Hall? Reggie Herring?

The fact that a Sam Pittman type hire looked sexy exactly one year ago and you went for it just makes the opinion of wanting RG as HC look dumber not smarter.

Also you framing it as someone was making you pick between Harsin and Garner is a lie.

What am I being sensitive about? I put in context the post what I said.

Once the job came open I wasn’t pumping Garner.

And no I wasn’t lying about the Garner hire over Harsin. I was putting Garner out there because the detractors were saying no one would come here to coach if we fired Harsin after just one year.

But yes I still stand by that and yes I still G would be a good head coach. So to who ever said I was lying… why would I lie to double down on what I said.
