Apparently, our resident “ insider” dentist is full of shite. This from ESPN just an hour ago:

QB Caleb Williams spent the last day and a half meeting with coaches at UCLA, after spending time at USC over the weekend, per source. He’s expected to communicate and possibly visit more top programs before deciding where to play.

I mean, if you can’t trust a crypto dentist, who can you trust?

If he comes to AU I’ll be very excited but right now I’m pretending I’m over him.

Williams starting to look like his only priority is himself for some reason. Wonder how that attitude will go over in whatever locker room he ends up in?

Umm yeah, that is kind of how it works. I left my employer three years ago for the same reason. Good for him.

Entertainment business...with storylines and heroes and villains. Everyone has a part to play. "College tradition" is just a necessary device to create dedicated and committed viewers. NFL could have created a minor league by now, but its been much more profitable for everyone to keep the system in place. We'll see if NIL unravels this whole charade.

Understand your point but it’s not quite the same. Football is a team sport. Sure, you’re likely on a team at work but it’s definitely a very different kind of team.

He's not on a team yet, so he's got every right to find the best team for him until he does. That will probably involve who pays him the most.

“College tradition”

Yeah, they play this up a lot at times, but I think you’re discounting the college experience. People have ties to schools because they spend time and money (considerable amounts) there during some of the most exciting years of their lives. This includes players. This creates tradition and fondness that an NFL-lite type league could never have. I agree with you though - the age of NIL and transfer portal may unravel this pretty quickly, which sucks.

I’m not sure I’m even disagreeing with you on anything lol I guess my contention is that college tradition isn’t fake and manufactured by the media.
