Yep, that might the final straw that broke the weak arse camel's back of our pipe dream.

Meanwhile, it looks like Cameron Ward will reunited with his Immacualte Word coach in Pullman.
I'm resigned to Calzada as the starter, TJ as the backup, DD to transfer and a RS for Geriner in 2022.
It is what it is.

Gonna be a long year. I know people are trying to be positive on Calzone, but our offense doesn't look like its going to be any better than last year.

Doubt TJ transfers until he graduates since he’d have to sit a year

Not saying he WILL transfer, but its certainly a possibility and I think thats the reason the coaches want to bring in 2 transfer QBs.

Schedule is easier next season. Georgia and bama were likely losses whether we got them home or away.
This coming 2022 season we get A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, LSU and Penn State at home.
Win all of the cupcake games, split @Ole MIss/ @ Mississippi State, win 4 of the 5 big home games, and we're an 8-4 team. I think that's our ceiling.

We are screwed.

We've been screwed nearly every season since 2008. Things aren't getting better until the midget in Tuscaloosa retires or our NIL program dramatically improves recruiting (it actually appears to be improving).

Huh? Do you mean 2018? Because I remember winning the NC in 2010 and winning the SEC and playing for another title in 2013. But I did drink a lot back then so maybe I'm incorrect.

Outside of Cam and Tre Mason/Nick Marshall we've averaged 5.5 losses a year from 2008-2021. We've lost 69 games since 2008. Saban hasn't lost but 18 games in that same time frame.
When your in state rival dominates recruiting in the area this is what happens as a side effect.

So, outside of the year we won the NC and played for another. Gotcha. GLad those years don't count now.
Does 2004 count for anything?

The fact that we did what we did in those years speaks volumes to our potential. We held onto Gus way too long.

We're not a program of consistency. We've been an average at best program since 2008. 69 losses is astounding compared to 18.
It's not going to change unless we start bringing in the players to compete with the never ending 5 stars in Tuscaloosa. I'm not holding my breath that another Cam Newton signs with Auburn and propels one of our 7-5 squads to 15-0 again.
Until that happens, we're a basketball school.

I don’t think what he’s saying is controversial.
We need a couple of dudes if we want to put together one great season.
We need a fairly full depth chart of dudes if we want sustained success as a program. We certainly don’t have either right now

Start off with 2 OOC wins, then Penn State, which is certainly beatable in J-H. We should be able to beat Mizzou at home as well, as I'm convinced that Eli is in over his head even deeper than his former boss. Then we find out if Kelly can turn LSU around quickly - I'm not convinced, but call that one a tossup. If we get a few lucky bounces, there's an outside shot at being 5-0 going into our biannual beatdown between the hedges.
I think we beat Ole Kiff in Oxford as they are rebuilding even more than we are (new QB,RBs and replacing their OC/DCs who were both above average). Arky may finally break through against us the next week, though, but I regard them as a tossup.
MSU will be a key game for us - will be hard to beat them if Rogers is firing on all cylinders. Here's hoping Mason learned something from that 40-0 debacle (or from watching their pathetic performances in their last two games).
Don't see us beating TAMU this year, unless Calzone goes off on his old team like he did against Bama. WKU lost their record-setting QB, so I think we should survive them. Of course we will lose to Bama.
So that's 5 likely wins (Mercer/SJSU/Mizzou/Ole Kiff/WKU), 3 likely losses (UGa/TAMU/Bama), and 4 tossups (Penn St/LSU/Arky/MSU/). Split the tossups (3 of which are at home) and we're 7-5.
Yeah, that sounds like a pipe dream at the moment, but it's definitely doable if we have some semblance of an OL and Calzada stays healthy and more or less consistently average (both big ifs).

For those who care, it's 4.9 if you include Cam/Tre/Nick years...4.3 since 2004.
ETA 18 losses is absurd. Georgia has 47. Saban is so far ahead of everyone it's literally like a video game.

So 5 losses a year. That's not good. And it's a direct result of getting dominated in recruiting.
