Don't need to pay for that information.
Everything is accelerating for Hartwell to come in. It will be home run hire as will the new HC. Especially Hartwell's views on NIL.
I think McGlynn will fire Harsin after the Georgia game and Ethridge will finish the year. Auburn will not send on of his own (Zac) to Athens for that beat down but instead force Harsin to go and take it himself. Coupled with what he is going to get this Saturday night...
It is all about leverage, negotiation and buyout money now with Aubie having the upper hand.
Harsin has proved he can't coach in the best league in America. His statements behind closed doors has bordered closely with prejudice and poisoned the locker room.
Certain members of his family have been involved with things that are still kept quiet. His stock and credibility has dropped significantly.
The past 3 games Harsin came in on Wednesday scrapped the game plan, installed a new one then went home and left it up to his coordinators.
Scoff and down vote all you want.

quote:Forget the gamble for whoever hire's him. Think about the gamble Sander's would be taking by accepting a much bigger job, than he has now.
That's the gamble, I guess.
He's about a famous now, as he was during his playing days. He's picked up a job at a HBCU after coaching HS for a few years. Then he gets hired to do a national ad campaign alongside a dynastic coach. Picks up a handful of good players. Now we have people thinking he's the second coming of Vince Lombardi. What happens when/if he struggles mightily against much better, and experienced competition?
There's a reason why you don't see guys go from HS to P5 head coaching in the span of 3-4 years.

What Deoin has done there in recruiting is nothing short of amazing. With Auburn he would accomplish more right? More resources, more name recognition, etc. Surround him with strong support staff. Again, the only way it works is of the big $ boosters support him 100%....that will apply to any coach.
Is there any doubt that any player at Jackson State would run through a wall for him? How refreshing would that be?
Deoin is also one of those people who's vocabulary hasn't included the word failure.
I'm not saying he is the pefect hire, but he is the best hire considering the circumstances we find ourselves in.

“Who else are you going to hire” isnt even an option.
Especially considering that much like Nebraska, we're also in a position where we can drop a metric shitload of cash on a coach due to the incoming influx of TV money with the new contract starting next year.
Big Ten Schools will be getting roughly $50m per team, and we'll be getting roughly $54.6m. This hiring cycle will continue to re-set the coaching contract market.

I haven't seen anyone call him the next Vince.
But, it's blatantly obvious nowadays that if you want to win at this level, you have to recruit at the absolute highest level consistently. Since 2017, UGA and Alabama have been in the top 3 of the recruiting rankings every single year. There's a reason they have played for the title 2 times against each other.
It's less and less about X's and O's, and more and more about Jimmy's and Joe's.

quote:Do you have any idea of the absolute horror show that was Penn State, when BOB took over? I was shocked he had any starters agree to stay! What he did there, was considered miraculous at the time, considering he was under the worst sanctions ever imposed on a school not named SMU. His NFL tenure wasn't a huge success, but it good enough for him to make the playoffs several years, remain the HC for 6 seasons. Much longer than some other big time names like Spurrier, Urban, and Saban.
However, when offering up suggestions such as BOB, I’d like to know why it could actually work at Auburn. “Who else are you going to hire” isnt even an option.
Unlike Sanders, BOB has coached for a long time, at the highest level, and at some pressure-cooker jobs.

BOB would not stick around long

Thank you but I sense most on here don't! Most think I am some guy on an ego trip and want to an important person in the cyber world.
I assure you this... what I am allowed to address is accurate, not rumor and I don't say it to be big shot. I just love this university since the day I was born and the hits it and the board take are unwarranted and piss me off.
I am just an old man who has been around Auburn a long long time. I listen, observer and yes talk to a few people that I will always protect.
If someone here doesn't like it... don't click on it or band me. No sweat here. I will just go fishing and on Saturdays go support Auburn and continue to give them my money.

Man traded DeAndre Hopkins for David Johnson when he becam the GM.
I'd say the pressure got to him.

Texas A&M's never-ending top 10 classes, ring a bell?
I'll counter your Jimmy's and Joe's, with a Bum Phillips qoute:

Let's say Sander's is hired, and brings in a whole bunch of top talent. How long is that sustained, if you are taking losses due to inexperienced coaching? Suddenly, recruiting drops off, and now you have less talent and still losing games to your rivals, and others. Which is more likely to happen, Sanders recruits top 5 classes every year, and out coaches Saban, Kiffin, and Kirby led teams, or does not? Did Malzahn's success against Alabama rely on talent alone? Name one year, from top to bottom, that Auburn was a more talented team than Alabama?

Last year was the first year Auburn ranked below 15th since 2017. Along with that, A&M also has been in the playoff discussion more than we have in that same time frame.
With the playoff expanding, I'd much rather be in A&M's position than our position.

At this point, the gamble is the coaching. That's been established. It will depend on what your coordinators do.
But, Deion would fit the role of a CEO type HC, which if he lets his coordinators coach, could be a very good thing.
That's basically what Saban and Smart are doing now.

You mean how Saban wanted to sign Drew Brees, and then the team doctors failed Brees on his physical and refused to sign off on him joining the team, and that's how he ended up in New Orleans?

So the idea that people who believe in Deion have is that he is a CEO-type coach like Dabo. He has the pull to build a really strong coaching staff - which he already did at Jackson State (relative to their program). He has a former NFL DC as his DC at Jackson State. Their staff might actually be better than ours under Harsin lol.
The comparison to Jimbo doesn't work because Jimbo's entire thing is that he refuses to give up control of the offense. He is the opposite of a CEO type coach. How dangerous would A&M be with their talent if for instance he was able to bring in and relinquish the offense and play-calling to someone like a Jeff Lebby? Their defense is already elite.

That's basically what Saban and Smart are doing now.
Let's say you are a coach, with aspirations of moving up in the world. You make it to the level where big time P5 schools are considering you for a coordinator position. You turn down the other offers, and go to work FOR THE GUY WHO HAS ONLY BEEN COACHING FOR A FEW YEARS, AND NEVER AT ANY FBS SCHOOL?
If Sanders were to get hired, his biggest recruiting obstacle will not be for good players, it will be for good coaches.

I think the worst thing about this Harsin thing, is when he'll go somewhere else, do really well, and make Auburn as a whole look terrible--just my Oracle vision.

After seeing his staff at Jackson State I have no doubt in my mind that he can assemble a great staff at Auburn.

Yeah, and honestly I hope it's not just filled with a bunch of post-auburn players and more next-level post NFL developers.
