To top that outside of Kiffin and Freeze there is no clear number 3. So if he's using the fans to judge he will never make enough happy after Freeze to matter. You can just look in this thread since Kiffin was out and see how many different people want different coaches and no one agrees on any. He would have to hire someone like Stoops or Urban (I don't see either) to unite 90% right off.

No he does not. He is not involved and none of his players are. Do a little homework before posting bullshite. The only thing that involves him is a message he sent to an accuser. Bruce had issues at Iowa as an assistant, which led to him being blackballed from coaching at the D-1 level for over 10 years. When he got to Tennessee, yes he had a BBQ, but that wasn't the big deal that got him in hot water. It was telling the recruits to lie to the NCAA investigators. He got a show cause for that. We hired him after it was over. Shortly after taking the job, his top assistant was implicated in a bribery scandal. We didn't play the guys involved, Bruce ended up being suspended from coaching for a few games, and Persons plead guilty. I'm a huge Pearl fan, but don't act like his entire career hasn't been filled with controversy. Freeze did not receive a show cause. Also, the shite Freeze got fired for, started under Nutt.

Auburn and ole miss got sextoned. It seems like he’s a bad faith negotiator. Gets his first sucker (this time auburn) to agree to terms and then takes those terms to the next sucker (ole miss) and has them sweeten the pot even more. Then tries to re-sweeten and the first sucker (auburn) thankfully walked away. Or lane did. Whatever the story may be we’ll never know.

It’s a really shite and behind the back shite hole way to do business but I suppose that’s why he’s the best at what he does for his clients.

I'll pull for whoever until they start dragging us down and need fired to fix (aka Harsin style). I don't worry about Freeze because I think Auburn has a better atmosphere. Some places have bad environments for stuff to happen. Plus he has been at Liberty without issue and could have learnt his lesson from OM. Even clean coaches make bad decisions. Mike Price tried it out of the blue at Bama before he coached a game.

I’ve been skeptical of the fit but Kelly seems to manage it fine. He did lose to A&M tonight strangely though.

Secondly, I like their model, but easier in theory than practicality. They force- hired a homerun hire by opening up the checking book. It worked for them but there only so many great home run hires out there. It could’ve easily blown up in a bigger way (Jimbo) but it’s still just about the safest way to secure a decent coach. We have to be prepared to pay up, but I understand why Kiffin made our PTB skiddish to a fat contract after limping to season end. We still have Fickle….we could follow that model and get Fickle. He is the real deal.
