All I know is Paul F Bomb has introduced guest after guest to his show to explain why Auburn should hire Caddilac. Plus local news anchors are already entertaining the idea of “If Auburn beats Bama.”

Virtually every Auburn football fan I have seen who isn't a "serious" fan (you know, the kind who is reasonably educated about football to the point that they're on a message board regularly and talking about it) has made comments to me or on SM about Caddy "deserving consideration" at the very least. I've been paying a lot of attention to my fellow Auburn fans and alumni on social media because as a marketing guy, I'm kind of marveling at the groundswell. It's not nothing. Go look at how many reactions one of the "Cadillac should be head coach" articles gets when it's posted -- and by the way, those articles are getting posted by mainstream authors. This movement is certainly not a majority of the fanbase, but it is not insignificant portion, either.

Around here, we all know that Caddy is a great guy and this is a great feel-good story, but probably not ready to be the head coach at Auburn. But we take this shite more seriously than most fans.

So, delaying an announcement "out of respect for Cadillac", IF that is actually a thing, should probably read more like "out of optical deference to a fairly significant portion of the fanbase who would like to see Cadillac be named permanent head coach, or at least get a legitimate shot". It also forestalls the negative press that WOULD be published by those same authors saying "AuBuRn NeVER GaVE CaDiLLaC a CHaNCE". It's just marketing optics

We're going to get curb stomped by Alabama tomorrow, and once we do, the season is over, the Cadillac story is no more and will dwindle, and the AD can announce the new head coach without a whole bunch of all that

As an aside, if it ends up being Lane, he can also poke his finger in the eye of his old boy Jon about being today, too

I think though, we may be putting the cart before the horse. Cadillac or not, there is no announcement today if there's no coach
