I read that as Corch saying that the perception on this board would be anyone other than those two would be bad hires.

I’d take him over Lashlee…. And that should tell you something Jonesy. All seriousness QB development and recruiting are vital here and now. We’ve been sold a tanker load of BS regarding our past OC’s with QB development credentials over the past decade plus.

So what will be the bullshite spin we all need to start practicing to convince each other we aren't being fed another shite sandwich when Grimes gets the job?

I'm pretty patient. The disregard for recruiting coupled with the sloppy games this year gives me no reason that anything will be better next year.

I don't think anyone has posted this yet, but New Mexico AD Eddie Nunez has been named as a new significant prospect in the search by Hokanson. He says that he thinks Hartwell and Nunez are above the rest right now.

Nunez spent 14 seasons within LSU's athletics department and played basketball at Florida under Billy Donovan. I believe that he was a finalist for Miami's AD position last year. He has a good endorsement from Greg Sanky and apparently he is a big facilities guy.

AD Search update from Hoke:

His focus is on 3 names: Hartwell, Benedict, and New Mexico AD Eddie Nunez

He wouldn't be surprised if Sankey is involved since this is Roberts 1st year as Prez and his first time hiring an AD.

He thinks getting Sankey involved with the conversations and getting his input would be valuable

Hartwell isn't the odds on favorite, he's a top candidate but he doesn't think it's Hartwell's job to lose. He could still end up as AD but he's not a lock.

New Mexico AD Eddie Nunez is a new name, he was at LSU before going to New Mexico and played basketball at UF under Donovan.

Hoke spoke to a current AD who had positive things to say about him, his ability to fundraise, and his future.

Sankey said this about him:

quote:

“Eddie Nuñez has extensive experience in many areas of athletics administration and his passion for supporting and building relationships with student-athletes will serve the University of New Mexico well. The SEC is fortunate to have a number of young administrators with bright futures as leaders in college athletics and I am confident Eddie will excel as New Mexico’s Director of Athletics.”

Hoke places Hartwell and Nunez above anyone else at this point.

He still mentions Benedict cause he knows he spoke with the search committee, but he's not considered a favorite.

GaSt AD Cobb is still in the mix and his camp believes he's in a good position

GaSo AD Benko has been mentioned, but Hokes sources say he hasn't interviewed, isn't a top candidate, and believes he's happy at GaSo.

He thinks Roberts and Auburn have a list of names they know will take the job, but it's possible there's a final scour of P5 ADs to see if there's a home run hire they can lure away with money.

Nunez Bio

Nunez apparently had a hand in this while he was at LSU LINK

He worked under Woodward at LSU, invested a ton in facilities, and helped hire Wade.

In the comments Hoke posted he doesn't believe McGlynn will land the job.

He asked if Sankey is involved and Roberts is valuing his input what are the chances of Freeze being hired? Makes it sound like Freeze won't be the guy.

Edit: another video on Nunez: LINK

Nuñez sounds like he could be a solid hire. Interesting that Sankey may be involved. On the surface that seems like a good thing because he would want what’s best for the conference, which would equate to auburn being competitive again and a threat in the west. But is there any reason to think he would screw us over?

If Nunez can land a better job coming out of New Mexico that is an accomplishment in and of itself

It’s hilarious how long this is taking to hire an AD.

Corporations have people in place before a major resignation/firing.

Auburn is taking all football season to make a hire. There is zero leadership at Auburn right now.

Well, to be fair the Greene resignation did come as quite a shock to everyone.

It looks like it's happening. We'll fire Harsin after the Iron Bowl. Then start from ground zero with an official search committee then have long drawn out interviews. Then Chris Klieman or Jeff Lebby will be named head coach the day before signing day (couldn't force myself to write Lashlee).
