I don’t see Lane coming here. I think we’d have to pony up the Tucker/Kelly/Jimbo type of contract to do it and I don’t see Auburn doing that.

Some clarification here. I think we’d have to do that kind of contract because somebody else will. I don’t think Ole Miss will. But some program will do it if Auburn doesn’t and I’m not convinced Auburn will

I hope Auburn never gives a stupid contract like those unless it’s to Saban, Bill Belichick, Kirby, or possibly Dabo.

I was really wanting Harsin to work out, for a number of reasons. I think Greene ended up being the fall guy, but he got taken by Harsin’s tough guy routine, as did I.

We absolutely will because that's what the market calls for.

We can try to hire a coordinator but that will cost us probably 4 mill a year. You see above what it costs to win. We can try to go the cheap route but will probably get cheap results. May as well pay Kiffin 9Mill and build him a statue

More than money we just have to guarantee someone 4-5 years. Without some guarantee we won’t get anyones attention. That’s why I feel we have to go big time here - if we hire a Grimes type (who I’m fine with in normal contexts) and he’s canned in 3 years we are going to be beyond fricked for 2 decades.
We need a splash for recruiting and fan stability. If that splash can get us top 5-10 classes for the next 4 years, but we only go 8-4 every year, it’s still worth it. Roster rebuild is an absolute must for us, and a relatively unknown name will essentially have to be the best X &O guy of all time to get us back to where we want and there just flat out aren’t those guys around.
