oh ok, i didn't put that together.

so mcglynn moved from associate AD to the interim spot and now whitehead has been hired to fill the associate AD spot. now the expected plan is that they will hire hartwell as the AD and mcglynn will move down to assistant AD. is that right?

i see mcglynn was "executive" associate AD and they just hired whitehead to be "senior" associate AD. not sure if it's just semantics. just curious is all.

Essentially this yea. Sorry. This pretty much points to Hartwell being hired. As far as what McGlynn is going to do once he is hired I think most people feel he is fine to move in to a lesser role with the university or will help with the transition. It has been reported on a couple of different websites McGlynn was given the Interim tag because of his familiarity with everything going on and he would be the one to fire Harsin so the new AD (Hartwell presumably) could come in a couple of weeks after with a clean slate. Hope this novel clears things up

Rich will be second in charge behind Hartwell is my understanding whatever the titles may be.

McGlynn has saved Auburn's arse twice in his time with AU. he won't be "pushed out the door" in any way. He's just not the right fit for an AD his expertise is in compliance and with a toothless NCAA right now well you know...

They should just hire me… I’ll fire Harsin no problem.

Yea, sorry. I didn't mean for it to sound like he would be pushed out the door. Someone else made it sound like McGlynn is ready to slow down some. Take that with a grain of salt but I agree he has a very secure spot at AU if he wants it

Yeah, this tracks with what I've heard.

Basically, you want to have as much distance between the current coach being fired and the new AD being hired.

So, let's say that Harsin doesn't get fired till after the Ole Miss game (bye week follows that game). Once that domino falls, I'd expect about two weeks before Hartwell is hired. Just to let both moves have their time to breathe. That then gives your new AD the opportunity to come in and make the HC hire fairly shortly after he starts.

There's a reason that a few people have alluded to the AD hire being the more important hire at this point in time.

So might be possible the firing happens prior to an AD announcement.

Probably waiting so Zac doesn’t have to get beat down by 5 touchdowns as his first game as HC

As long as hartwell doesn’t try to bring Blake Anderson with him as HC.

I really wish they would go with an elder statesmen type for the interim job.

Roc or Ike. Prefer Roc. If one of the Auburn guys is named like Zac or Caddy I'm afraid he Potato posse just mails it in.

Plus I think Zac has the opportunity to grow into a head coach and don't want him saddled with all that might unfold

Couldn't zac say no? I'd stick one of the potatoes with that atrocity

So how would that look for his future if in a future interview he is asked, why didn't you take the interim HC job? That isn't a good look if you want to become a HC as some point...

I think anyone with half a brain would see why, what does being interim coach and losing by 50 to Bama do to help?

Say no to SEC head coaching position when he’s 36-38

On the flip side what if he wins? If you don't take it then it says a lot when you get a chance that might not matter in the long run but could help your career and get a chance sooner than later.

It is my opinion we won’t give Lane as long of a contract that he wants.

Seeing the turn over we've gone through think we're going to Jimbo contract someone "if" it's the guy they want.

Any candidate worth a dman would be stupid not to want a long term deal with our known PTB
