Connor Lew playing as a true freshman didn’t look overwhelmed

I thought so as well, some clown on the game thread said "he needs two years of weights before he can compete", I dont know what game he was watching.

I did see in an interview that he said he could not lift during the summer because of some minor surgery. Playing like this as a true freshman can you imagine another year of training, kid will be a true beast come next fall.

WR need to get separation and running backs need to get upfield.

The line is not the greatest, but to my eye, they are not horrible.

The QBs have enough time- many times, just need some WR to step up and create space.
Or win a 50/50 ball.

10 tackles through 7 games he isn’t exactly showing me he’s going to be a “beast” next year. He needs to change his body either get lean and be a long edge rusher like Peirce Jr. at Tennessee or put on a lot of size / strength and be a strong DE. He’s kind of a tweener right now. Not strong enough to set the edge and not quick enough to get around the corner. If you actually watch the film 90% of the time he stands straight up and does a very underwhelming bull rush. I’m definitely not writing him off but it’s obvious he missed that time in the weight room as you mentioned. I didn’t know that tho. Explains a lot

Stop running routes that take time to develop ......

Throne hit two quick slants back to back....Maybe mid stuff to decoy and clear out the LOS......

Ashford has hit some really good slants this season too. They just don’t run them. Haven’t seen many crossing routes either.

He’s got 18 (10 solo, 8 Assisted). He had 6 against Ole Miss, 1 was a TFL. He had a good game against Ole Miss, and is improving.

ETA: he also had only played 1/3 of the defensive snaps before Ole Miss. With Nasili-Kite out he has a much bigger role now.

Which begs the question .....Other than decoy, why run deeper routes?

Because midnight in Montgomery doesn’t know how to call an offense, and Freeze is too busy trying to recruit? Art Briles just got cleared of all charges. Make it happen, Hugh…

We might as well go get Rick Pitino as well. Pit the Anti-Forde team against America

If Freeze’s option routes depend on reading the coverage and they don’t respect our ability to throw deep I guess it makes sense there’d be a lot of tight coverage and the receiver would try to go deep.

They’re not doing the read routes anymore.
