A myth built from the Bill Clark PR machine.
Gotta give him credit though, he's made a lot of money off of it.

He’s a really good coach but got over his skis “turning down” the Auburn job. I’d guess he delegated that media decision to someone other than him. He’s also Roll Tide.

I find it strange that the fanbase was trashing the PTB during the whole search, and then one statement was released by those very same people, and despite the history of lying and doing things in the shadows, we just took it at face value. Hell, they didn't even know Greene was going with Harsin until it was done.
I believe Bill Clark more than I do Gouge, who I think was just trying to save face from Auburn being turned down so many times.
I mean it's a moot point. BC will be fine, Auburn will be fine.

I have no reason to believe Bill Clark. And if he turned down a top 15 job he fell off his rocker.

I like how my uncle (AU '62) described him: "An arse with ears"

Indeed. There’s media and reality. Not a knock on Clark but a knock on his Opp media team.

How quickly you forget that everyone was turning us down, and we were melting hard before Harsin was hired. (Which again is why I think Gouge was doing damage control.)
Auburn could be the best job in the country and he would still turn is down. He's a massive bammer. I don't think he sent a single Prattville player to Auburn on scholarship.
Not to mention he's been a Saban sycophant since his LSU days. He would take his entire coaching staff to Saban's coaching camps every year...even at Miami. I guarantee he's selling himself as a cheap, nothing-to-lose replacement for Saban once that gremlin retires.

UAB and Clark suck arse. The NCAA gave him a blank check to rebuild. Johnson the QB is terrible. I am hoping UAB can get picked up by a better conference and he leaves. I would love a Kindal Briles type guy in town.

Bill Clark is reporting that y’all are all full of shite and the only reason he turned down 18 college jobs and 12 NFL jobs last year is because he is going to Bama when they fire Saban after this season.

I can’t remember who turned us down. The duck man sure. The most eye opening “rejection” was Bill Clark’s.
Clark might be a bammer but you don’t make a leap from UAB to Auburn, much less Bama. If he seriously wanted to be at Bama and it’s true we offered him the job, he could’ve accepted the Auburn to Bama trajectory. Even that’s less strange than UAB to Bama by a mile.
Clark’s scheme sounds unprofessional and like a fable told at the poker tables to be honest. I don’t care how much of a Bama disciple he is. Bama football is a multi million dollar business and hiring someone that is not proven all the way up is an extreme risk that I know for a fact they won’t take.

from what i understand bill clark did lie about auburn and various sources from another board confirmed it. also bill clark has been poor mouthing auburn and during his high school days he tried to keep every kid he coached away from auburn. i cannot prove any of it but i believe it and i do not believe gogue lied for one minute. it would be easy to prove gogue was lying. i was a huge uab fan until last year. for what it is worth he was never in consideration because of his mouth and steering players away from auburn because he was a huge bama guy before he got to uab. he can go frick himself as far as i am concerned.

His team was ill prepared for the game today. With that said, they’ll probably win CUSA again. Looking forward to going to a couple of home games in the new stadium.

I love that new stadium. Wish I lived anywhere close because I’d go to at least one

Not sure if you grew up in Bham, but I did. Hard to believe what they’ve done to that area.

Savannah. I have family there that I visited growing up and I lived in Birmingham for 3ish years. My dad grew up there before moving to Miami as a teenager
