AU's SEC Stat Rankings

All stats are tallied against P5 competition only. That is to say, this is a comparison of SEC teams based on their playing of other P5 teams. So I have thrown all the rent-a-win games out.
AU's SEC standings
Defense:
Total Defense: 8th
Scoring Defense: 5th
Passing Defense: 7th
Rushing Defense: 7th
3rd Down Defense: 8th
Red Zone Defense (TD's): 5th
Tackles For loss (total yards): 9th
I think we're doing "OK" on defense for a first year staff. Not great, but nothing to be upset about. We are almost exactly in the middle of the SEC in most categories.
Offense:
Total Offense: 13th
Scoring Offense: 14th
Passing Offense: 14th (79 yards per game)
Rushing Offense: 6th
3rd downs: 14th
Red-Zone TD percentage: 2nd (with only 6 attempts)
Tackles For Loss (by total yards): 8th
Obviously we are last in the SEC in almost every offensive category except rushing. But even in rushing we are only middle of the pack. We are the worst in the SEC on 3rd down. Surprisingly we are only 8th in the total TFL yards we have given up. I figured it would be lower than that.
Interestingly, we are 2nd in the SEC at scoring TD's in the red zone. Problem is we rarely get to the red zone, so that stat might be muddled by a low sample size.
Shits and Grins National Stat:
For shits and grins, I wanted to see how bad we are at passing on the national level. Once again, this stat is based on P5 teams against other P5 teams only. And, yes, it is as bad as you expected. We are 125th out of 126 teams. Only team worse than us is Eastern Michigan.

Good work. We are way off on the passing game

Any stats for sacks and turnovers?
That was what liberty defense was known for

Our offense is putrid, but I also think we probably faced the two best defenses we will this year.
I would like to think if we can keep cleaning up the penalties, we have a chance in even our toughest remaining games.

And we have also faced three of the easiest defenses we are going to face

We have 27 total sack yards, which puts us 60th nationally and 10th in SEC.
We have 4 "forced fumbles" which ties us for 5th in SEC.
We have 6 INT's which ties us for 4th in SEC.

Maybe, but Cal shut us down too.

Nick Saban gif aside, I think A&M and Georgia both have a better defense this year.
That doesn't mean I think the offense will get much better, but I still think a winning season is on the table. While it may not seem like much, to me that is much better than the scenario we were facing last year when the prospect of Harsin coming back was the case.
Also, did anyone else click the link in the OP? I could not get it to work but I am blaming it on the Facebook or something.

The site is cfbstats. If my link doesn't work, you can Google to get there.

IIRC We are at or near the top of the SEC in total takeaways. We were tied for the most with 8 heading into uga and got 3 more. That's not bad. Also, our competition has also had their own rent a wins so I imagine the overall stats pretty much balance out. Thanks for the info.

So you are saying… the only place to go is up? In all seriousness, I think Freeze will take over play calling from now on, and we will climb into the 70s and 80s at least.

6 out of Payton Thorne’s 9 incompletions yesterday hit the hands of his receivers
Lots of armchair QBs / coaches up in here. As coaches so often say for good reason, "We'll need to take a look at the film...."
